has anyone heard anything about any of the crappie trails hitting Oklahoma this year? If not has anyone thought of trying to get a club of sorts started around here?
we think about it all the time that is all
I' ve been fishin' crappie tournaments since my early teen years with my dad. Now my kids are old enough to get into with me and all the trails have all but abandoned Oklahoma. I wonder just how many people here would be interested in fishing a crappie club here in Oklahoma. I've been a partof a few bass clubs and as long as most of the members get along its not to hard run a club. I might be willing to try if i have the help of a few people.
Lets do it, start it as jackpots or something. I love to see the big slabs come to the scales! Set a date, a lake and time and see who shows up? Adverstise it as CDC jackpots! EB
we have the same things here in Arkansas. Both states have some great fishing.
you are very right! I do believe thought that Crappiemaster is having tournament this year over on Dardenelle(sp?) a lake i do love to fish on!
they are, i plan on fishing it but not everyone wants a big tourny here in the southwest of the state i fish ok, tx, ar but most turnys are 3-4 hrs away at least
if not more! More then likely I'll be there as well. who do you usually fish with? i Usually fish my son, jaycob. You fish very many CUSA tournies?
It good that you and your son can fish them together. I have not fished them
I was talking to a gentlemen yesterday and that said they are seriosly going to start a crappie club here on Eufaula. There plan is to start crappie tournament jackpots once or twice a month, kinda like a basss club. I believe they are going to have there first one in March and see how it goes. He said that the entries would be $50 per team and the payback would be 100%. They plan to have these jackpots on different areas on the lake and the end of the year tournament at a different lake. They were trying to get some input from the crappie fisherman that have fished tournaments over the years to make sure everything is done right. They are wanting to run these tournaments for the fisherman in mind and see how it progresses. There are no tournament trails that come to Oklahoma much anymore and I think it will be good. Anyway he wanted me to put something on the board to get input an see what kind participation we would get! What do ya'll think EB
I would love to fish one of these! Would they have an option for non boat owners to tag along?
that sounds good to me but why only eufaula. Yes its a great lake, but there are so many excellent crappie lakes in Oklahoma! Texoma, kaw sleeper lake like Arbuckle, Robert s. kerr. The only thing that i would like to see is move the monthly tournaments to a varity of lakes. Also, You may want to think about setting back a small percentage from each tournament and using it for a larger payout at the classic. That will help a larger attendance for each tournament and you want to set some type of reqiurements to gualify for it.
As far as I know these guys are looking for input right now. They want to do what the fisherman want! They are going to start this thing on Eufaula as a starter tournament and then if they can get bigger as they go along. I believe it will start as jackpots on Eufaula and hopefully become an Oklahoma tournament trail! Thia has been discussed on this board many times, we just never had anyone take the bull by the horns and have one and see who shows up! They are talking about a meeting right now to get there ducks in a row! When they decide the date and time of the meeting I will post it! EB
I'd really like to know this date, i have a bunch people that are really interested. So plese let me know! thanks
When they decide to have the first meeting I will put the date and time on the board. If we can put something like this for the fisherman and it is what we want then it should be a sucessfull. I am sure that non boat owners what be able to fish from the bank or maybe even draw out tournaments. That way you get to fish with someone different. We all know that crappie fisherman are little different from the bass guys. This is not about money this is about crappie fishing. The only problem I see is sometimes the crappie fisherman will not quiet at the appointed time. He will stay there and keep catching them until he has his limit. They are much to good to throw back! LOL "I think that would be lip rippers problem" LOL EB
Me? Stay and fish while the weigh in is started? already have a spot picked out on Coal Creek for Sissy to spread my ashes....I figure I'll die with a rod in hand when it's my time. Let me know Brian if there's anything we can do to help kick this off and thank you and the Luce's for getting one goin.
I will Lip, I want at least everyone that lives here on the lake to be invovled. I love seeing those big slabbers come to the scales, then listening to lies about where and how they caught them! LOL But most important the fellowship of fisherman! EB
Lies! LIES!! Who B a lyin? Don't u no by now that crappie fishermen don ly. ALL of MY stories are gospel. ALLa my stories b true. My stories are QUARONTEED to be elastic.
Lots of fellas up here on Oologah that would love to get involved too. Sure would like to see both of the best lakes IMHO be included in the fun. I'm sure we (Oologah fellas) could share a few secrets so everybody that participates will catch fish. Not so sure about them (Eufaula fellas) sharing anything but lies according to my dad Gaston Hall. We've kicked the idea around up here for years and just never done it, sure am glad you guys are doing more than just talking. Look forward to getting involved, if you need any help just holler.
Let me guess where...right in front of that camper on the point? I sure would love to own that piece of real estate!! I watched that guy run trotlines and yo-yo's last year. The guy's freezer must be busting at the seams!
On the other hand,,
I would love to see a Club or tournament start here in OK. I'd try and make the meetings and throw some money at it. Just let us know when and where! It sounds like way too much fun!!!
