I guess that was a bust. How come nobody uses our state board?
uglystik,
Don't feel bad ... I'm in NY and you can hear crickets in the NY state board
LOL ... how bout that? I find myself viewing States a gazillion miles from NY because a) they have frequent posters b) They seem to fish year round and c) look at A and B :D I also read many posts and support those selling stuff. Must admit, I didn't know anything about the 'wicked' lures and jigs people use until I began reading and absorbing the info shared at this site. Glad I came upon this site!!!!!
You do a lot of saltwater fishing?
I'll stand up and be counted, not a member of the NJ forum, but, I did a little fishing at the Fort Dix ponds! By the way, you need to see if you can get access to them. Just call MWR and ask them what you need to do!
hackettstown nj here, let's get something planned for the spring!!!!! I'll bring the food
im in ocean county,nj
Just joined, first post.
I'm from New Egypt and work in Princeton. I fish different lakes after work on the way home in the summer, the Assunpink around the boat ramp, Prospertown lake at the parking area and a new lake (for me) I found late last year that I think is called Stone Tavern Lake. The weekends I load up the canoe and go about two miles to Turn Mill Pond.
I'm also a fly fisher and have only seen one other in this area fishing the lakes.
We're having a crappie outtiing in april, in nj feel free to pm me with any questions
Hi everyone.. just joined and wanted to say hello. So count me in the roll call. I live in Toms River. 40 years (Ocean County) Fished salt water in N.J. Everywhere for Everything.. Now hoping to learn about fresh water fishing & catching Crappie...
Been lurking on the Arkansas board for quite some time. Looking to retire there someday. Seems like a great bunch of friendly people on all the boards.. so it was way past due to join my N.J. chapter.

Thanks, uglystik.. for the welcome.. i have a friend that travels down south all the time for bull riding events. With this warmer weather almost upon us and the spring run.. I'm looking at trying some perch & crappie fishing down your neck of the woods. Maybe even Delaware. As i understand it.. if it's tidal water in De. you don't need a license.

I'm in Cape May County. Down here I get a lot of bass and pickerel and some perch. I miss the crappie fishing that I had in western Pa., have yet to find them here.
Hey eveyone, first post here. Originally from Monmouth county, now resding in Ocean county. I used to fish the Assumpinks a lot, as well as Deal lake for crappies, used to clean up pretty good. I haven't gotten much of a chance to poke around too much down here, but will start to do so soon.
Welcome 02SVT I live on the Jackson-Plumstead border by the Colliers Mill WMA. There are lots of lakes around here but I have caught fish in only a few. Colliers Mill and Turn Mill Pond are local and productive for me. Prospertown is also close and not only has fish but the state also stocks it with trout.
Thanks Irish. A number of years ago we dumped my friends boat in one of the Colliers Mills lakes...I believe when you went in the main (i guess) enterance it was the second one(i think) on the left. Yes my memory is quite fuzzy, but we couldn't buy a fish out of there. I'v fished Prospertown as well, pretty interesting little lake, all along with the screams of Great Adventure haha.
Colliers Mill is the smaller of the two. I only fish that one from shore, not worth the time to put in the canoe. Turn Mill Pond is the one on the right and is much larger. I've caught Pickrel, Bass, Bluegill, and Crappie there from the shore, canoe, and wading.
Morristown, North Jerzey on the new forum woot!!
Had excellent luck in Cranbury Lake two trips now end of March!
Welcome jimmi413. I used to live in Cranbury and would leave my canoe in the park, fished it most evenings and weekends. I enjoyed fishing the river side more than the lake but both were productive. Caught most of my crappie in the middle of the lake across from the boat launch just at dusk.
Have you tried the warehouse ponds across 130? There are three ponds that can be fished from shore and are full of bass and pan fish. Good areas to go after work for a quick fix.

if you didn't hear..when they drained prospertown last year that's where they put all the fish into!!! word is big bass in state record size too!!! over 20000 total
Bridge Addix what lake are you talking about? I heard that the fish from Prospertown went into Colliers Mill. Why they would put all those fish in the smaller of the two lakes I don't know.
Speaking of Prospertown does anyone know when they plan on filling the thing back up and why haven't they done so by now?
turn mill is the lake they put all the fish in...i have no idea about prospertown tho
