The trolling motor is a good place to put it, I have had mine mounted there on three different boats now.
majority mount the 'ducer on the TM based on pics, etc., depending on type of boat, you could do the thru the hull thing, really depends on where you want it, and if it gives a good picture when mounted.
trolling motor.
trolling motor
How would you secure it? With Screw clamps?
A large radiator type hose clamp will work....They make transducer mounts for trolling motors and they come with the clamp etc. Whatever brand of Fish Finder you have , just go to their website and check it out.
Pictures of a skimmer mounted on the TM with a clamp. Just bend the transom mounting bracket ears just a little to match the shape of the TM and clamp it on.

Thanks for the info guys...
A finder is awesome up front while sitting over a brushpile,i'd be blind without one.
Don't know if you have glass or aluminum. I think it was Jerry Blake or Darryl Morris that has a puck TD mounted inside the front of his boat and it's tilted slightly forward. No broken TD's this way and, if I remember correctly, he said that he liked the slightly forward vision and that it wasn't a big deal to get used to. I've kicked around the idea, and have the TD, but so far that's as close as I've gone. Just some input. Also, I remember something about a slight loss in signal shooting thru the glass hull but nothing that a slight increase in sensitivity couldn't fix.
Like others i have always mounted on my trolling motor. No problems. I use humingbird hockey puck td on a minn kota
