They look good Scott......should look just like a minner in the water.
I like the colors but I don't expect much action in the water cause it's a little stiff. For slow trolling or spider rigging that wouldn't matter though.
I really like the color combo. Nice jigs but I can't believe you are cutting up your wig!!!:):) How we going to know what you look like now :D.
Look like they will work. The ones I have tried and know they work were like I posted and just thread neck jigs with a couple strips of silver flash. This is the same type jig that Guide I know here uses a lot. He also has them a lot longer than most would use. If you look at craft fur or even select craft fur, he uses the full length of the hair as his tail. Some short tail guys here would probably faint if they saw his, LOL!
So Scott if nothing else tie a couple that just have a black head and thread neck (black) and the hair tail that is probably 3"-4" long and pass the hook a good bit and give them a try.

Nice work Scott!
Skip, would something like this be what you're talking about? Thanks for the comments everyone. Ronnie, I'm sure that pic will show up from time to time. LOL

Scott you beat me to the punch I'm going to have to get busy and make some up that Don King jig of years looks fantastic
Yes, but I would make my thread in a shorter place, heck here is a pic...

However now I would just make my silver strips a bit longer than I did on this one from 4 years back.

Okay thanks, I think I get it now. I'll have to stock up my arsenal with some of those.
Scott it's a simple jig to tie and I know he uses this type jig a lot and even uses a #6 regular bend hook on a 1/8 head just to keep customers from losing too many in the brush he fishes. I went to visit him about 4 years back to meet him and some other guys that were fishing at or out of his Lodge. Very nice Lodge BTW!
Anyway he told me about this pattern and he was using it a lot Since then we talk a good bit from time to time and I know he still ties this same jig with this color as well as other colors of craft fur. Anyway I tied some up to see and be darned if they didn't work pretty darn good. Not long ago I ask him if he cuts down the length any from Select Craft Fur and he said no, he uses the full length which is pretty long. I do know that crappie have that big old mouth so no trouble fitting in there.
Oh this fella use to be the only full time crappie guide on Toledo Bend and this lake is about 70 miles long. There may have been more guides that have come on since then, but most still are not just full time crappie guides and he is.
I feel confident you will catch fish on this!

Thanks for the good info Skip. I'll surely give them a try.
Those top ones look like the ticket, scott!
The layout of the colors scream baitfish.
Adam
Thanks Adam. You need to come up with Gary and fish with us sometime.
Would looooove to, but rough finding the free time to do so. Plus, I dunno nada about that crazy trolling fiddlestix yall do! My boat moves at 28 lbs of thrust! :D
Call me when yall resort back to the good 'ol reliable thump.
Kidding, but thx for the offer and I def want to make a trip one day with Mr. G, he's a good guy that I'd like to be able to spend more time on the water with.
If I ever make it down we can compare hair styles.... (I've been tying jigs with beard clippings.........but don't tell anybody )
Adam
They don't do the thump thing up there. All you need is the time, I have the boat and equipment. Think that little truck of yours can handle my boat? You need a vacation before the water gets too cold for the cranks. Easy and FUN fishin.
