Caney Creek/Lake Conway/10-18-10

Hey Guys Still nice catches in from Caney Creek/Lake Coway caught 26 nice fish today with four 14 inch foot ball blacks. Bite is good daylight till about 11:00 Am and picks back up at about 4PM to Dark. Fished it the last four days, caught 14 and 16 during morning trips only, and caught 22 yesterday and 26 today should have had about 35, lost several good fish today. Fishing the same way as in previous post. Keep your eyes on the weather Guys cos the next good cold front rain will bring Caney and Gold Creeks to Full Tilt and some Crappie Fishing You won't want to Miss. You wont even need a butterfly to catch em in these creeks after the next good rain.:D

one of these days i am going to try to come up there and help you chase them butterflys and catch some of them fish on lake conway i have only fished their one time about 25 yrs. ago i would not know were to start.

Russ, meant to ask are you still catchin 'em on the beaver or are you back to your old tried and true white and chart?

Mid South Tube clear Chart over white inner body with red blue silver metal flake, chart head with red eyes 1/32 oz, and a silver metal flake nibble should get you bit along in Caney creek works good in Gold Creeks to. Also been using a Yellow with chart tail with ggod results after the sun comes up a bit

MeatGetter, Gold, Caney, Dix Creek, Hwy 89 bridge are all good places to start and hold fish Oct through Mar. I would almost bet with your expertise you could put a stringer together if you got to Caney Creek at Daylight right now. Work the two bends upcreek by the bridge and out towards the lake along the edges. Fish r being caught on Tubes and/or Minnows with slip bobbers right now.

Brother come down to fish with me and just left today. He dont deer hunt but loves to fish. Been here since 1 Oct. Nov is coming.;)

Coming from Little Rock on I 40 to the 129 exit/Dave Ward Dr or some call it Hwy 286, take that exit turn right and take an immeadiate right agian which will run right back down along side I 40 the way you just come on I 40 for a bit and will curb to the left. Stay on this road you will come to a four way stop which you will go through. As soon as you go through the four way about 1/4 mile You will see a small bridge with a boat ramp on right, You r there. Big gravel parking lot and nice boat ramp. LOL launch your boat and fish two small Lilly pad pods right accross from the boat ramp to get ya started;) Fish r staging from two bends just up creek from bridge, under bridge and along both side right side of bridge and out towards lake. Do not Go up the creek past second bend they r not there yet but after the next big rain that will be good to. I f you fish the bends up from the creek do it early before bank fisherman show up and fish the out cropped pods of Lilly Pads. After the sun rises a bit concentrate around the big Cypress trees, stumps and submerged stumps along edges. PM me me if there is anything else i do to help ya. Main thing is get there early, you can even get there a lil early before daylight and nail them with a glow tube. Good luck

Russ, you can actually launch in Canney creek now? With my boat?
Last time I fished there (over 10 years ago), I broke a skag and prop on the way in from the lake and destroyed my TM on the way out.

DP Yes the AGFC have built a New concrete boat ramp, big parking lot to park in, middle of creek channel is clear from bridge to the main lake mouth but i just run the creek with my TM mainly. There are isolated stumps along creek channel edges so watch ur TM speed when fishing/moving along Creek channel edges. If you look you can see most of them and fish them when u see them. Fished it agian yesterday with my daughter caught 26, 18 in morning and 8 more in the evening. Key to Caney Creek is get there early and fish the things along channel edges sticking out. Spider rigging or casting a jig and bobber in channel may also work after sun comes up. These fish have been known to suspend in channel.
