Hello everybody this is my first time here on the message board and I think its great.. How has the fishing been lately.
Hey Bassman. Welcome to the boards. It's nice to see that there are more than two crappie anglers in Washington :D . The crappies are stacking up at Lake Union, putting on the feed bag before the real cold weather hits. They seem to move in right at dusk and bite best from 8pm to 1am before they shut down. Most of the fish I've been catching are coming off of rock bottomed breaklines in at least 15' of water with a deep flat near by. The catfish are still biting at night in the small pond behind Target next to SouthCenter Mall as well.Quote:

Welcome to the board Bassman. It's good to have another member on the Washington site. There's a ton of info and other little tidbits floating around. Be sure to tell a friend and let's try to get as many people from the state of Washington as possible to join the fray.
No its actually a slough (at least the state classifies it as one) off the snoqualmie river.
Cajun Chris, Ill try to get some new members, but none of the people i know fish for crappie.
Oh..Okay lol. There's a website I came across a few years ago created by a local guy that maps out all those sloughs. He had a lot of pictures of bass and crappies (and a few whitefish) that he's pulled out of them. I'll to try to find it again and post a link.Quote:

All of the crappies were caught on an underwater hump using glow jigs. The bass came on 4" lizards carolina rigged and smeared with smelly jelly.
I went back to the slough and got a couple of 9 inchers last night and one nice perch.
We hit Ohop this morning and landed 11 nice keepers. Me and Big Mike got there about 7:30 and fished until 11. It was a great morning for fishing, we had the entire lake to ourselves..........
Slab where on Lk. Union do you fish. i.e. where do you park, is there a boat launch or do you fish from the dock. I'm getting off a little early tonight and I might drive up there and get my Pole Jerked a couple of times........
Wheres ohop at????

Ohop is a nice lake. It can get tuff in the summer but fall and spring are good. Tanwax should be good for crappie now also.Quote:

You can launch from here and be into some fish within 10mins. If you take the boat out there send me a PM or give me a call...there's a few places I'd like to point you to. The fish will bite good down here until late Dec. You'll give up due to the cold weather before they do! :D. We should hook up soon man. I'll bring the beer ;).
Here's the launch: http://www.cityofseattle.net/parks/boats/Sunny.htm
That sounds like a winner. Let me know what your schedule is like. I'm open to fish any time as long as it's not raining. Just let me know........
Bassman there's plenty of bass at Ohop. There's no dock, but they do have a small cement ramp that's very shallow. I get a 16' Bayliner in there so it shouldn't be much of a problem launching.
Looks like this sat, next wed & thurs, and next sat are supposed to have decent weather...but you know how that works around these parts.
Let's shoot for Saturday. I'm off early on Friday, so name your lake.
Thanks for the information.

They were pretty scattered from the bank all the way out to about 22' of water. Most were caught about 4' deep over 9'-12' of water with the larger ones and some sunfish coming off the bottom.
I'm not going to get off until 7:30, do they allow night fishing in the boat? Should i bring the propane lanterns? I was thinking about picking up a little propane heater attachment.... Holla
It's no problem using the boat on Union at night. It'll make it a hell of alot easier to find parking down there too. If you bring a latern I'll bring one and we should be covered. Heater? Sounds like heaven. I usually just fish until I can no longer feel my balls :D .
The lake union crappie sound like the potholes crappie. They seem to bite better at night at the potholes.

You wanna hit the Pot Holes??? We could fish the I-90 bridge "Real Early" in the morning, and then skip over to the Pot Holes........
Thats skips wife in the picture isnt it??
I know thats skip in the picture above
I'm not sure who the lady is in the pic, probably a Pot Holes Local. However, we had a blast fishing at lk. Union on Friday night. Just like Slab predicted, we'd get tired or cold before the fish stop biting. Nothing like a cool crisp night fishing for Crappie in the shadows of the Space Needle............
Yes, they are both potholes locals. How many crappie did you guys get.
We had really good time out on the lake that night. The fish were in a biting mood and still were when we left. I don't know how many we cought, I lost track but it had to be in the high 40's all totaled. Thanks for talking me out Cajun. Let me know if you wanna head out again some time. Next time we can try to anchor up on the deep end of the drop-off. Man, there were some huge schools of crappie in there. A man could lose sleep at night picturing what Charlie was showing on the screen. :D
Wow sounds like a lot of crappie
