if you have no intention of fishing them, DO NOT VOTE
Originally, the alive or dead was to encourage participation from folks in smaller boats that normally don't have a chance in the larger tournament such as Crappie Masters. That being said, I'm OK personally with either way. If I had my druthers, I'd like to keep the dead or alive and just get more formal with the boat checks before launch. I don't want to knock somebody like Duck out of competition. On the other hand, if the majority want to go to live fish, that will just have to be the way it is.
So....basically.....whatever. :)
Wannabe...
having it where 2 or 3 of them can be dead in case you gill hook them pulling cranks. just a thought
Or maybe bonus points for 7 live fish?
Seriously.....Is the prize money in these FJ's so much that someone would actually cheat? I'm just wondering because reading these posts for a couple of months or so, it doesn't sound like anyone would cheat. Ya'll sound like a pretty well respected group...and friends....Just my .02
Its been brought up just trying to head off anything in the future.
Ok, Just wondering. Really sounds like a bunch of good people. I hope Hammer Head and I get to fish some of the FJ's this year and meet some of ya'll. I was chairman of our local youth sports assoc. for about 5 years (total volunteer) and understand the need for rules and also the need for a good committee. Ya'll do a great job!
Why keep them alive? We're not going to release them anyway.
That way I pretty much know they were caught that day
The other way is to hire someone to administer a lie detector test at every tournament.
and the Fruit Jar Drama begins again !!!
Yall keep this up and we will have a poll for every rule. Why dont we all stop pickin at everything and lets just fish and have fun like this thing started out!
It doesn't matter to me... I'm in it to learn some new fishin technique and meet some good people. If I win great, if not, its still fun. W\out a livewell its tough and in 110 degree temps its hard any way, but however they tell me I'll try my best to stick to
wait til it's about 35 degrees and the winds kicking up to about 25 MPH. I'd rather have 110 degrees cause Washington bout hurt me this past February
True Dat DD. I'm not naming any names, but I ain't never seen nipples on a boy like that until Feelay took of his jacket. Sharper than Sat's box cutter they were.
Wannabe...
and you ask me why i dont fish in the tg
They are a lot easier to clean dead they dont flop around as much.
Rather than nic-pic each rule to death just adopt a set of rules whether it be MCC, CM or CUSA. Then live with it. I'm not real crazy about the 2011 schedule but if I want to fish the FJ's next year I will have live it or sit at home and wonder "what if".
Mr. Jim you couldn't be more right.:D Getting finned measuring is enough.
cut glass my friend. LOL
It's a bonus to keep them alive as a live fish will weigh a little more than a dead fish will. Icing them would just have to be a chance that some take I guess. btw, planning to fish with you all next year.
I hate crappie. Kill them all
Nice sign-off DD
Or we can just hire a psychic so we know before the tourney who will cheat...
Well from what I see the voting must be over cause noone has voted in the last few hours. As weighmaster I will be announcing that we will keep the weighin as it was and allow fish (alive or deceased) to be weighed in but there will definately be a boat check done on every boat before the boat is allowed to participate in the FJ's.
It'e "Bon Jovi Style" Dead or Alive LOL
Sounds like a plan sat... It will allow everybody to fish without having to rig up an aerated cooler or somethin like that...
Well as soon as WB can get to work and get the rules fixed to read the way they were with the provision that the boat was checked by a tournament official prior to fishing he can post it!
I originally voted for "don't care", but I would change it now. I had 20 in the livewell yesterday and I ran the aireator (spelling) almost constantly. Almost all of them were dead or at least glazed over. Dead is the way to go. Just going to have to trust in our people.
I know the poll is over and it has been determined to allow dead or alive fish. Either way is fine with me. One thing you all should consider is, live fish will weigh more than dead fish. If you have a livewell or a cooler set up for fish and you want to give yourself every advantage, here is a great article about keeping fish alive in hot weather. I know its about green carp but it will work well for crappie also.
