spro frogs? way to expensive right now! i barely have $8! it's gotten bad to the point that all the adults here are asking me for cash:eek:! if thats happening, that means it's the end of the month!
anywho, i chose these frog because of good reviews and price!
Tip of the day. Save your money until you have enough to get the Spro. Worth the wait.
I have always used spro and they are the best out there. I am thinking of fishing the snag proof tournament on guntersville so I would have to buy some of them and not get to use my spro's. Don't worry about paying $8.00 they are worth it and throw them on 50 to 60# braid and you should have no problems.
And I had someone tell me they arernt very good. And the only $ 8 lure that i'll buy is a rapala. Now can we please stop talking. About them? the first three posts are about and there are no votes yet..... I already have. My mind made up!
The Snagproof has always been my favorite, I tried some of the Spro's... and while the colors were great, I wasn't really that impressed with the action of the bait. Each to his own.
For store bought you cannot hardly beat a Scumfrog. But I do sometimes make my own out of wood.
What is that?
Best frog I ever used was a "hand-pour" 10" bait that had to be T-rigged with a 5/0 - 7/0 wide gap Gamakatsu hook...the fish would grab the bait before it even hit the water! Unfortunately, the guy that was making them quit all of a sudden and hasn't been heard from since.
Anyone want to start pouring big plastics? PM me and I'll post a picture of what they looked like.
I like the Stanley Ribbit. Really kick the water up & sound like a buzzbait. You can get one rigged & 2 extra frogs for less than $5. Click on the Youtube video.
stanley jigs, ribbit, stanely, ribbit, ribbit frog
river2sea makes a nice frog
I caught my largest bass with a SPRO Frog. I have yet to catch a fish with my Scumfrogs Trophy & Bigfoot. I also picked-up 2 Cabelas Chuck-it JR Frogs have not caught a fish with those either.
I got SPRO Frogs for $7.19 at Cabelas a few weeks back.
You should save and get the SPRO Frog.
Go SPRO or say NO!!
I've used both Snag Proof and Spro frogs and the Snag Proofs have far outshined the Spro ones for me.
While my ignorance here is tremendous, from what I am reading I think a lot depends upon where you are fishing, how you fish different frogs, and what colors you use may play into it. It's pretty interesting to me that one person loves frog X, and another swears Z is great, and both argue that the other's favorite frog is the worst. I'd really love to try to get such people together on each others spots, to see how things played out. It may be that you finally found a way to fish a particular frog, and you think all frogs need to be fished that way, and perhaps that is not the case. I don't know what the reason is, but I am completely fascinated when people are so strongly in disagreement over such things... Perahps we could learn more if everyone told us what part of the country they fish, what type of water, etc.? I love this thread!
I use all spros but i know that a bass is a opportunist and will try any thing if it moves right to suit it. I have had baits that i couldn't catch fish on and turn around and go with a freind and he will use the bait and slayem! So you pick what you like and have a open mind on the way you use it.
I think each person has their favorite and thats fine by me. I did pick scumfrog on that list but havent caught a fish with one. I fish it the same way as my SPRO in the same area but the SPRO attracks them the scumfrog hasnt. I think it may be the weight difference, the SPRO makes more of a wake in the water,on top of the slop, where the scumfrog doesnt. Here is the spot Northern IL

Nice spot! I used to be stationed at Great Lakes, IL as an instructor, also went there for boot camp, and several schools. I do miss it at times.
Of your choices in the poll I would go with the Popper, nothing like hearing the baip Gulp right before a bass pops it.
Thought I would toss in a few other under $5 options

Got a quick question for you Spro frog guys. I picked up a couple new ones yesterday, matching them as close as i can to the local frogs in my area. I noticed the skirt is rather long on them, my question is, do i need to trim them or is the length on them when you take them out of the box fine the way it is?
Scum frog with me all the way
spro frog is the only one i use .
