monster warmouth from the canal!
at about 6:40 in the evening, i hit the ohio erie canal in coventry county. using dead minnows on a jighead, i caught a small 3'' warmouth. after releasing the warmouth, i had no luck for 10 minutes. so i switched out the minnow for a chartuse WAHOO! jig. great move! i moved over to some lily pads and jigged the lure on the lily pad and let it drop into the water. this way i caught 2 nice bluegills that flopped right out my hand into the water:) then i caught a good 6'' warmouth on the jig. 30 minutes and a few more small ones later, i went a area where a man was fishing with a plastic worm. i caught a another 6'' warmouth. as soon as i put my jig in the water where a bunch of baitfish where panicking, a 7 1/2'' warmouth came charging out like a bass and swallowed the entire jig, but luckly i set the hook in time to keep it from getting throat hook. the man admired the catch and offered me his fish. i accepted the fish and left at 8:00

Right you are, Jonny ....
That's definitely a Warmouth. I've caught several around that size, here in KY, at Herrington Lake ... casting crankbaits along steep, rocky, cliff banks.
You very well could break your state record, of 1lb even (9.9" ~ ), if you keep after them ;)
I'd have to go just a little bit farther, to break the KY state record for Warmouth .... 1lb 6.2oz :p
Just as a little encouragement .... BOTH state records were caught from "ponds" :D
... cp
