i don't sell my jigs. But probably tie as many as some sellers do. Not every week though.
If I am trying a new pattern or material all bets are off. I have ties jigs for quite a few years. But most of those years I only tied with a couple patterns always round head jigs and only 2 or three colors of the same material.
I found this site awhile back joined in a few jig swaps and bang. What used to fit in a tool box has now blossomed out to a 1/2 of a garage of stuff. Last winter I could not ice fish due to health problems. I spent a lot of time tying and probably averaged around 250 jigs a week.
I'm about like you Musky, around 10 to 20 a week. A lot of that is experimenting with new materials or different types of jigs. Gotta run, I'm fixing to go troll some crankbaits, otherwise I wouldn't be up this early!
I don't know, but I can tell you there has been a lot of weeks that would get into 500-600 and had that going for a lot longer than you would think. I have had some really bad weeks where I had to do more than this, but that has been a while since I let that happen because it's too much on my back to sit here long enough to do that.
On thing that got me to stop specials was a couple years back I posted a special on this board and TFF and within one full day I had way over 30 orders and just overwhelmed me. I tied more jigs per day then than ever and the orders didn't stop after that first day either. I use to run a special every year until that happened. Very few days and actually I can't remember a time
Now 250 is more like what I want, but sometimes it's just not possible. If I had total control I may tie less than that. I finally got a break with less to do, but needed it very bad after I hurt my back again. I took almost a week that I didn't tie much of anything. Been a long time since I got to take days off and just sit in the easy chair. Only bad part is I didn't choose to sit in that easy chair all that time, but my back insisted.
Spring tying starts way before spring gets here and only changes jig head size after that.

I was thinking the same thing Musky,lol.I tie up about 6 a day.If I don't go fishing,then it's none.But,with flounder season running in New Jersey I have been tying maybe 2 dozen a day of 3/4 oz. Bucktails,1 1/2 oz. 2 oz. and 2 1/2 oz. Bucktails.Which pays a toll in materials.Especially thread.
MERCY....that would take some counting...lol..
I tie about 1,500 a year. I only sell a few but friends use some. Between salmon, steelhead, trout, crappie, gills and salt water I always have something to experiment with or that I am running short on.
When I really sit down and tie, I will do between 50-100 a week. Other than that I just tie 10-20 a week if I sit down and tie at all. Most Jigs I ever did was 300 in a week. Tied 500 salmon flies in a week once. Will never do that again.
I still tie more flies than jigs
That sounds like what I want to get to, but not quite yet. I will keep tying for some after I close my web site which will not be for a while yet. Maybe in a year or two. I just got too much into this now to just cut and run. Too much or many of everything.

we are in the ballpark with Skip .
Since last November, I've tied 1280 jigs. I sell a few locally, but not many.
I've tried to build my inventory to include all materials and sizes from 3/8 to
1/100. My friends think my whole purpose is to keep them supplied with jigs!!
NOT!
Thank you JoeFish, I appreciate that! I am not going any place soon and could still be doing this for a while, but I do get where I want to slow down. Not just quit though and just be able to do more of what I want to tie.
I enjoy it too much to stop now and have way too much stuff, LOL!

Mine varies. I may not tie for a month then tie 100 in one day. Don't sell, just when I have a need or friends in need. Mostly when I get on a certain color the fish like, I'll tie a bunch for me and my fishing buddies.
Did a little figurin' since I posted this....on a standard feathered crappie jig, between 120-150 dz. a week, after I pour and paint the heads of course, well in 6 days. Don't do anything but rest/visit/and when possible go to church on Sunday.Like my granny always said, if you can't make it in 6 the 7th wont help. On other styles of jigs, not as many but close to it. On just plain jig heads, between 15-18,000 a week if I hustle....lol...I guess almost 30 years of experience is good for something...lol..if nothing else SOME SPEED...:D
I tie about 3000 a year, but hoping to increase it some next year. This is only 1/32 oz ball heads and dart heads, have not counted in any other weight head that I tie for a few people. I have used a lot of squirrel tails and chenille tying in the last couple of years lol.:D
I used to tie apps 350 a week until "Arthur - it - is" caught up with my hands and shoulders. Two shoulder operations later caused me to shut down my website about eight months ago. Now I tie about 20 a week for myself and a few friends. At 65 I now Want to spend more of my time fishing and gardenwork than being tied to a tying bench.
I enjoy teaching others what little I know about fishing and tying so that others can continue where I left off.
