Some folks whe have not fished three tournaments have asked if they could pay and fish the championship. I think yes but all paying teams will be excluded from the carry over. In other words if we have 10 teams pay to fish then they are going for 400.00 on the side but if a person wins that has qualified then that goes to them also.
I say no. We all knew the rules before the series started. We all knew going in that we had to fish three fruitjars to qualify to fish in the championship. Some did and some didn't. For those who didn't qualify they can enjoy fishing with us next year. Why should we start changing the rules and the very end of a series especially the championship? Some of us have put in a lot of work to suddenly have the rules changed at the last minute. My partner has to drive at least 260 miles each way just to fish this series and he did that THREE times to qualify for the championship. He didn't write a check for it, he earned it.
Would MCC change their championship rules at the last minute to include new members? I don't think so and neither should we.

If a team places in a regular FJ tournament, their entry fee is waived for the championship. In the event a team disbands prior to the championship, that team must designate 1 person to receive the waiver of the championship entry fee.
I agree with Yikess and say NO It was clear before the tournaments started that you must fish at least 3 FJ's to qualify to fish the championship. If you want to change the requirement, change it next year but this was the understanding all season. If those who didnt qualify, want to have a seperate tournament, why dont they do one the day after the championship? I have driven a total of over 2000 miles this year to participate in the FJ's and qualify to fish the championship. It is not fair to those who have participated all season and contributed to the championship pot to have anyone be able to come in at the end and take a chunck of the prize when not having made the same contributions as everyone else!!!!
Torch is not saying that they be allowed to fish the Championship but they will be able to fish a seperate pot. If that is what I understand!
Those that have not qualified WILL NOT be elegable to win the Championship pot!!!!!
Satdoc1 what would you do if 1/2 of the same person team was qualified and they won the tournament? The same boat would be getting all of the money with the efforts of an unqualified person.
Yikes I see your side but here is what was asked. Some guys have fished maybe one tourney and had fun. They wanted to fish with us and NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP POT. They wanted to pay an entry fee and fish JUST FOR THE ENTRY FEE MONEY. ONLY QUALIFIED TEAMS ARE ALLOWED TO FISH FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP POT. They would be there just to fish for fun basically.
Torch, if you're talking about non-qualified entrants fishing for their own pot, then that's fine, I would like to meet more crappie fishermen. That said, the propose of having rules is to maintain standards. No one should be allowed to fish for the championship unless they have met the standards.

Yikess and Speck you have my vote and I am not eligible for championship. Torch had these people fished some of the other tournaments winners payouts would have been bigger at each tournament. I'm sure the winners of all the previous tourneys would have loved to have 4 or 5 more entry fees added to the pot and the championship..Just my $.02.. :)
That's the way I read Torch's original post. The way I understood the original post was that the Qualifiers were fishing for the carryover as well as for the money of the payers (non-qualifiers). Even if a non-qualifier won, it would not have any effect on the payout to the qualifier, however if a qualifier won, he would get to double dip and receive both the qualifier payout and non-qualifier payout.Quote:

A pass the hat tourny would have to be totally seperate from the championship. Some who are qualified to fish the championship still have to pay the entry fee. Why should a non qual have a chance at the Quals entry fee. Then you get into the situation where a non qualifier fishes in the same boat as a qualifier. Who's fish count for who? This could get to be very complicated. Dont get me wrong. I love the competition and I want to see more people fishing the FJ's next year, but they wouldnt let a football team play in the Super Bowl if they hadnt won a playoff game. Even though that team wasnt eleiglbe to get the trophy if they won, they could still get all of the T.V. royalties. This amounts to the same thing.

Sat, I think there is still an entry fee unless your team placed in one of the FJ's if I'm not mistaken. If you were in the money in any of the regular FJ's then your entry fee is waived. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
Decision will be left up to the Tourney Director. OK Wannabe lets hear how you are gonna handle this!
I have talked to most of ya'll through pm's or phone calls and the majority of ya'll are against it. So I will tell these guys to qualify for next year and get in.
1. If they wanna have a seperate tournament, we cant stop em. Just let em take up their own money and divide up the pay oute. I aint got a problem with em using our scales either.
2. There is an entri fee for any championship participants, unless the team has placed in a regular season even.
Yep, if you placed, you're entry is waived. The oppressed and down trodden such as myself, will have to fork over another entry fee.
I agree....if they want to fish seperately, they're welcome, but let's not muddy the water with a combination at the last minute.
Maybe we ought to lower the requirement to 2 to qualify next year???????? Most of the regulars are gonna fish everyone they can make, but some of the guys have a tough time getting loose on Saturdays. Say somebody like Duckhunter. He would fish 'em all, but it's tough to get away from his store on Saturdays. On the other side of the coin, a fella that wanted to could take advantage with minimal input for maximum gain on the championship. I hate to leave folks like Duckhunter out, but left up to me, I'd roll with the 3 to qualify rule as is. It's a pretty minimal requirement compared to most series out there. I'd like to hear what ya'll think though.

I certainly don't want to ruffle any feathers around here since I am new and I'm just getting to know you guys. If it's publicity, respect for your skills, and a good turn out that you want, it seems that you would welcome others (Not fishing for any $$$ from the championship of course). As of now the championship is simply a blip on the Off Topic page. No list of participants, no current standings, and most of all, NO HYPE!! If you want a small crowd at the weigh-in inclussive of only the qualifiers, I think you're on the right track.Quote:

I rarely get the opportunity to fish these days and have never fished Grenada lake. Get your own pot going and if any of the qualifiers in the Championship FJ want to get in yalls FJ pot they can anti up and be fishin 2 at a time... SO BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like we have one team that has qualified already that is terified that there might be some cheating going on if there were 2 fjs on the same day. If someone wants to cheat there is no way that they need to be fishing with us cause the pots arent that big and we do it mainly for friendship and fun. Have recieved a pm asking me to back off on the #2 tourney for the reason stated above.
A cheater is gonna find a way to cheat with or without a 2nd tournament going on. Ask the Big Bass Bonanza folks. Hey, you can even ask Hank.

the entry fee to the championship is for those teams who have fished at least 3 of the tourney's but never placed in any of the tourneys. If you placed in a tourney your in the championship and the ENTRY FEE is waved. Sounds like you will still have to pay a big fish fee though...
Ya'll are making my head hurt. Just go by the rules as they were set at the beginning of the season. Changes can be make next season.
