That's a good idea. Posting our mixtures of colors, layers, spatters, etc could be very useful.
I have one 2 oz. bottle that I mixed up.It is really a very cool green. It's so hard to have a formulated recipe though.Once you start mixing and trying it out,you always add a little of this and that to make it look a little better.
Yea, it would be great to have folks post thier recipes on powder mixing. I've never tried it, but some good looking colors could be made.
Ever since I first got powder paints I've been experimenting with mixing colors. I've found that you just need to play around until you find what you're looking to create. I always try to keep track of a mixture but after adding my primary colors then a dab of that and smidge of this and oh I think I'll just put in a bit of those the formula is pretty well shot to hell. It is always neat to see the final product after they come out of the oven. I intentionally double dip on a lot of jigs to give that "bubble nose" effect to some jig heads. All the jig heads pictured are 1/16oz. I usually at try to somewhat match or coordinate my head and body color. Should you over dip your jig (as in pic 1) and fill the eye it easy after they cure to heat a wire on a touch and peirce the eye. This is an easy way to get that unwanted PP out. Most of the time I hold the jig by the eye with a hemostat and don't experience a lot of PP getting in the eye. Notice the difference in the hooks in the pictures. I usually use nothing but #4 Matsou Black Nickle Sickle Hooks. I'm not sure how the jig in pic #1 got there. Just keep trying and you'll find that mixing PP is not only fun, but addicting.

#4 Roasted Coffee Bean
#5 Salmon
Well that kind of answered my other post. Those are some interesting combinations. I might have to mix up some metallics with my black and purple to see if it gives them some shine with the color.
I wonder how well those mixes "mix" in a fluid bed? I would think you would see the same speckling from it.
Hey Pop! #1 looks like it should be called Baby Ducky to me, and #5 should be called Chicken Pox.:D
All good lookin jigs!
Only "recipe" can give right now is one Flatfish gave me. 1 tablespoon of glitter with 2 ounces of whatever color. It worked well to give just enough sparkle. I wonder how the sparkle will work in the fluid bed, it may either be too light or heavy and not mix well but will have to try and find out.
I don't mix different powders together, but I do layer different colors over eachother to make some unique colors and combinations.

I call this one "Firebug", it's a super glow yellow base and then a very quick dip (just in and out) into Ruby Slipper

I call this one "4th of July", a Ruby Slipper base and then a quick dip into Saphire blue.

This is "Christmas", a Ruby Slipper base and then a quick dip into Dragonfly.

This is Black Neon, not a unique color... but I like it! A black base and then a quick dip into Ruby Slipper.
The pics don't really don't the jigs justice, they're much brighter and shinier in the sun (I need to work on my lighting).
Chicken Pox is a great name for a jig.
Good looking colors there.
All the jigs look good. It is interesting to see the different colors together.
Here is one I made..I just dipped one real quick to post so ignore the lousy paint job..It is 1 part white paint/1 part red glitter clear coat and 1 part green glitter clear coat::

Is'nt white the hardest color to paint?lol.Color looks good.
not to me it isn't.
Played with the paint this morning. Several of these colors came out really neater than my pictures show. I tried to make use of some of the colors I had that I didn't care for. That Pearl Pepper is UGLY and so is the Purple by themselves.
I like this one. It's a little darker than the picture shows. 2 Parts Transparent Yellow, 1 part Candy Yellow, 1 part Pearl Pepper

Favorite of the bunch. 2 parts Yellow Chartruse, 2 parts Candy Orange, 1/2 part Red

Another REALLY neat color. Unlike what the picture shows, this is a gunmetal. 5 parts Blue Candy and 1 part Silver.

A Salmon Color. 3 parts Candy Orange and 1 part Pearl Pepper.

Pretty Good Brown. 2 parts Copperhead 2 parts Pumkin Brown

You made some good colors. I like the orange color jigs a lot! The brown I think will be a good color too. Nice.
some of the colors you guys are putting together or fantastic we haven't started mixing anything yet I have to many already mixed up we'll try to post some one of these days. We are having more fun messing around with the plastics right now. We have come up with an ideal of using plastics and feathers which we will try to post very interesting.
I'm new into the powder painting thing and had a bad thing happen today. Bought a container of black and another of white pro tec with intent of making gray for my first jig swap. Time is getting tight for the shipping. I opened the white and it was hard and stuck together. I got it loosened up for the most part but it still had some small lumps and you know how it came out. I got enough to get the heads for the swap done but I need a sifter fine enough to break up the lumps and make the white blendable again. I have one in mind but don't know if they are still available. Any ideas?
Just dump it into a thick zip lock bag and use a rolling pin the roll it and smash it up.It will work.It breaks apart pretty easy.
Man Skeet Pro-Tec shouldn't come out like that. Someone had it stored in the wrong way. Pro-Tec is the best as far as free and separate and fluffs best over other brands. The others paint as well, but just a bit harder to work with and they don't bubble like pr-Tec does. I think maybe you should try to exchange it. Where did you get it?
Skip
I love that orange yellow and red combo, I will have to try some of that in my fluid bed and see how it turns out. Might save me 2-3 steps to get what I need.
skeetbum, I would use a mortar and pestal to powder it or a blender but like Skip said, it should not have happened in the first place. I have stored pro tec in selaed containers in the garage for 2+ years and never had it clump up nor any other brand I have.
The color that I like best is two parts white, one part blue. Comes out a light powder blue. Nice jig color.
