Some kinda mutant bream? :P
This looks like a black Flowerhorn Chiclid. They are usually found in tropical and sub-tropical climates.
I can ask a biologist tomorrow at work. Where was it caught at?
we caught some of those in lake guerrero, mexico, bass fishing. the locals call them a RIO GRANDE PERCH. they are good eating and very colorful. about twenty minutes after yoiu catch them, they lose most of their beatiful markings.
hope this helps,
doc :)
did it fight like a big bream?
the ones we caught in mexico were all about three pounds, and they fought like a 7 pound bass. we caught them on 1/2 oz rat-l-traps and spinner baits.
doc :)
That is one ugly fish, and you caught it in the city park in N.O. wow that oil has messed up the fish,
