Powder paint is quick and easy. These jigs have 4 colors - one is an illlusion coat over the Diamond Blue.

I wrap swivel with a layer of masking tape and dip like i would any other jig. After all coats and clear i let dry then take tape off, tie my choice of color, then put on blades. I have done about 300 and did all of them this way, turned out fine for me. I too like vynil over pwder paint, what I stared with 15 years ago and have stayed with it due to the results I get.:D
i hear you dr...
Led,those are works of art.. I still want to see a painted dead ledhead. Vinyl gives me a headache,it's reserved for eye painting and I do that less now that I'm hooked on the 3-D eyes. There is so much you can do with powder that you can't do with vinyl paints.
Okay I've used a few started out with the testors model paint, went to vinyl and then to powder.
Well the vinyl gave me MAJOR headaches from the fumes, and since I get migrains don't need that.
Went to the powder and it works well for me, don't get into the wild paint jobs like others but I do like em.
I still use testors paints. Give em a coat of white and then a top coat and then a coat of epoxy over the top, so if I use plastics they dont' react with the paint.
For you guys who use vinyl does the stuff ever melt in the heat??? Everyone has their own painting preferences and the new guys are gonna have to try just like we did.
Fatman
ive left a jig out on purpose to see that fatman, and mine didnt melt..even left a tackle box out in the sun and none melted either..
Asked only because when I first started with the vinyl I was always wading and the waterproof (supposed to be) always stayed cool.

The OO colorado blade on the PH is painted with liquid powder paint (you are supposed to be able to shoot it in an air brush – haven’t tried it yet). The heads are done regular brush style.
Like the PP because there is hardly any clean up, can do up to 6 colors at one time, cure is ~20 minutes, and no headaches.
I use both nail polish and powder paint. (not on the same jig). Both work well for me but I believe the powder paint is more durable. On detailed fish heads that have lips, nostrils, and gill plates the nail polish is not as thick and doesn't cover a lot of the details up.
