H'bird transducer idea

Ok I do not have the answer to the doughnut but I am looking for a fix to another issue. No matter where I put the SI transducer I get some degree of interference from turbulence under my War Eagle predator.
My idea is to come up with a sliding block that will lower the transducer up to 2 inches with the push of a button.
Anybody know a robotics background genius type that can possible help me figure this out?
By pushing the transducer down when scanning at 5 MPH you would get the best results. All other times the transducer would store at the normal flush position.
Help me kick this idea around before I put too much time into it.

I have done something like this. It works. Thereason I relocated the HB transducer is because I needed that spot for my high speed transducer. Let me see if I can find my video.

I had a feeling you would know about this.

Found it. It works. Had to move it because I needed the spot for my flasher transducer (one mounted to right). Hard to find a good spot with them tubes running down the hull bottom.

Tom are you still using the ram? I thought I seen where you moved your Hbird transducer to the jackplate. Are the results of putting it on the Jackplate acceptable or was it much better with the adjustable ram mount?
I am trying to decide which to do. Either is going to cost me dearly but I really need to get the 1197 reading clear out both sides.
If you were in my position what would you do?

I am gonna put mine back on the ram jack. Too much rooster tail under the jackplate. I will probably move the ram jack to the other side of the engine. If you wanna see how it did it, you welcome to come take a look. I will show you how to wire it if you decide something like this. Lots of air bubbles under my boat. Next time I take the boat out the water, I will move it. Nothing beats the ram so far. Like I said, I moved the ram because of the high speed flasher transducer. It has its own rooster tail.:mad:

Cane the rooster tail (on 95%of boat installs)iscaused by water flowing thru the opening between ducer and its bracket, Hb does make a rubber block(black or yellow) that U put in that space and no more roo-tail-Don't see why it would not work on your jackplate install, or u could wrap with electrical tape side to side to try it out. Beats moving the ducer but then I am lazy.:D On the few boats that I've seen with ducer on jackplate the ducer isonlyin water at very slow speeds, at hi speed I am told it doesn't even touch the water.

I have been using a LSS-1 Structure Scan transducer with my HDS 10 on a Ranger VS 188 mounted directly to the hull and I have no rooster tail. I did not have a jackplate put on and I can see both sides with no problems and very few air bubble issues. You might look at how they make there transducer and retrofit the Hummingbird. So far I like the Lowrance and I do not have any donut issues. I am happy with everything so far.Great screen viewing even in full sun. No shade on the unit so far......Ifish

Canepole I got a vision after reading your post of you running up Kentucky lake with multiple rooster tails looking like a jet racing boat. Funny.
Besides giving you a big rooster tail, did the Transducer read side imaging without the bubbles interference?
I moved my 1197 transducer yesterday to 3 more locations and never escaped the bubbles. I have decided there is no getting away from the bubbles mounting the transducer to the transom on the Predator.

Well, you can't stick your head over the transom to "look see". The water spray would rip your nose off.

I was gonna rig my underwater camera up to record the spray. The dam camera quit working.:mad: Always something.

I recorded the spray. I will try to find the video showing spray. It is still spraying with the SI lifted 4 inches above the bottom of the boat. Amazing. You can see the bubbles everywhere.
