Thunder results and recap
Well, I had a very large, but very sweaty time Saturday fellas. Overall, I think it went pretty well. I was hoping for 15 boats the first year, but was pretty happy with the 12 that showed considering the heat.
Next year, I'm gonna round up some non fishing volunteers to man the scales and have at least 1 early weigh in time I think...maybe two. We all had problems with expiring fish, but after all was said and done, the floaters amounted to 25 fish or approximately 30% loss ratio. Not great, but not too bad considering the temp and that most folks caught them out of deep water.
If ya'll have any comments or suggestions for next year, I'd really be interested. I'd like to see this thing grow up to really be something in the coming years.
Congrats to Sat/Torch on the win. The hard luck award this year goes to Roger Truman (might be Turner...couldn't quite make out his signature). Their official results were 6.06, but due to dead fish, they couldn't weigh their full limit of 7. Actual weight was 13.05 which would have won. The team reported that all fish were alive until they took off for the scales, but several died in transit. Tough break, but with the COE involved, I didn't have much choice on the rules for dead fish.
Hopefully next year, an early weigh option will keep more of the fish healthy.
Weights below are pounds.ounces.
