What do you consider a keeper? I love any and all ultralight fishing. I mainly target crappie but occasionally go after bream or bluegill.

I release everything I catch, but anything over 8" is a nice gill, IMO.
the boys been hittin pretty hard. the ones we keep are bout like these. we have cleaned over 250 of 8in plus gills in the past 2 weeks. aint no better eatin so anything over 8 gets the knife and grease round this house.

8" is just about right...
Most of the time it's 8"or above but if the freezer is empty of bluegill fillets, a 7.5 might be in mortal danger. For redears it has to be male and above 10 inches for me to keep it.
Man.....I like the looks of that Sea Ark boat.
thanks for the compliment on the seaark its perfect for me and the family. here is a picture from last week trolling for crappie.

Do y'all mostly use an electric fillet knife or use one of the "youtube" methods?
Talk about corrupting kids!!!!!!! LOL Glad to see some boys out fishing and having fun!!!!!!!!
Fatman
I keep any that are five inches or bigger. It seems that in the river I fish at the fish are mostly the same size with a few over six inches.
bet those boys had a great time catching those gills.
them boys are corrupted. we caught 1400 crappie this spring and 500 gills. they like to catch anything that will bite including cats, drum, carp etc etc etc.:D:D
we clean all of ours with an electric knife.
we got the freezer full and everybody in the family has got fish so they have moved on to stripe and bass. its just about to get right. we are also mixing in a littel jug fishing as well. gotta raise em in the woods and on the river hopefully it will keep the trouble at a minimum as they grow older but boys will be boys!!!!!!!!!! i know i was!
