So what do you think? Here is a old time favorite color combo on the head and then a pearl body and chart tail.

Looks nice... did ya dip the old paint brush and dap the 2nd color on? Or do you have another secret method?
I like the holographic tinsel... and is that cactus chenille?
nice skip
No used a dropper to put the red on.
I use the holographic tinsel more than any kind.
Also no not cactus, but cactus has some pearl chenille. I special ordered this.

Love It!
I would love to know how to paint heads like that... It would make a nice Muddler Minnow jig.
Looks like a "jawbreaker". I'd bite it! Good job. I've been playing around with tapping a little second color with a paint brush, but I wish I could get results like that.

I like your pictures, jigs, and advice. My supplies are just beginning to arrive. I tied a ton on jigs 45 years ago, but the evolution of plastic made me get lazy. Retired now and can't wait to fill my box. Quick question about your jigs. It looks like the tail of the jig is very sparce, does it still have a lot of action in the water. All I used to tie was Maribou, and was used to a PLUMP jig.
I use marabou a lot too, almost all the time in the spring. When I get to summer tight lining I go to a hackle tail like this. yes it is a bit sparse, but I believe it has more action. I get a lot of feed back from customers that use my jigs and they catch one heck of bunch of crappie.
I will even troll a hackle tail like this and it does well like that. I use just one tip and 2 other pieces of the feather to add some action around the base of the tail out to how ever long it is. Some just half way to the tip, but some really wide feathers and you can make it so the extra stuff goes all the way or near the end of the tail. I buy longer neck hackle to make mine come out like I want them to and that hackle probably cost me twice as much as the short stuff. The short hackle (3"-5") I use only if I can't get the color I want in the longer (4"-6") and that extra inch gives you more wide webby feathers. You still get some skinny ones, but the wide long ones are my favorites.
Oh one more thing on the action thing, if you use 2 tips then you have to have 2 stems to make for a more stiff tail, IMHO.

I probably asked this before and had CRS but are you using a regular eye dropper for the two tone???
I wonder because I have some old Spot maker bottles from Janns
Spot Maker Kit for painting fishing lures
and wondered if they'd work just as well

I am using real eye droppers that I bought or ordered through our drug store. They come in sizes and I may add some other sizes, but don't know since I don't know what they are, LOL!
