I use Interstate & have no complaints.
Sounds like you got good service out of that Wallyworld battery ( 6 yrs.) I have heard a lot of guys cuss the WM batterys but I have had good luck with them just as you have. Untill I have a problem ....I am gonna stick with the. I do get the biggest size that they have and I keep them topped off with distilled water, and always plug my onboard charger up when I park the boat....I leave it plugged up untill I hook up to my truck again. I always get from 5 to 7 years out of a deep cycle battery and I use mine a lot, not just for the trolling motor but the electric anchor as well.
My buddy used to run Battery Warehouse in Greensboro. He passed away several years ago. Anyway, they sell computer backup agm batteries. I paid $30.00 for one and it has been great for over a year now. The last one I bought lasted 4 years before it started not holding a charge. I use it for trolling and to run my crappie lights.
There is only a 30 day warranty but they test it and I run it hard for the first 30 days. I have never got a bad one. They sell 2 sizes. One for $30 and one for $40. I get the $30 because it is lighter and easier to handle.
Another one of my buddies has had one for 3 years and it is still going strong. I am happy if I get 2-3 years out of a $30.00 battery.

Biggest drawback about walmart batteries is the lack of any warranty now.:o
Take a look at ac delco, the group 27 here is 98.00 and the group 30 is 125.00
Just looked and mine are 5 years old and still run all day, but I think I will change to be on the safe side.
I bought 2 new batteries at the Wal Mart I frequent earlier this year. My reciept has a warranty on it and the battery also has a warranty printed on the label. I checked with the manager and he wasnt aware some had stopped but as long as it says it on the battery and the receipt, the warranty is good.
Hi I am not trying to bardge in on your parade but I am one that has had nothing but problems with these yellow Neverstart batteries and wont buy another one. I havnt really had any issues with deep cycle nessessarly but just the yellow car batteries in general. I own alot of vehicles and boats and go through alot of batteries, Well the last one went before the warrenty expired THANKFULLY! Usually I have known them to go about a month after the warrenty. the last one was a daily driver also it isnt like it sat around. When I took the battery back Wal-Mart told me to take the battery back to the automotive department so they can test it and make sure its no good, so I do, It took those yahoos about 20 min to get the key to get the tool to be able to test the thing " like it wasnt bad or somthing" finally they came to the conclution that it was no good. This was by no means the only battery from there I was not happy about. Now they are taking the warrenty away? What? They know there crap! I will spend the extra $20.00-$40.00 and buy AC/Delco for now on, alot of others arnt bad either I like AC/Delco, Interstate,Die Hard,Deka,Optima, to name a few, just dont like the Neverstart or Neverlast batteries sorry guys just my 2 cents
Auto Zone carries a Duralast deep cycle battery with a 3-year warranty for about the same money as Wal-mart.
I use an Interstate truck battery for the trolling motor. I don't know what size it is, I'll look later. This is the second battery I've had on there for the trolling motor (bought the boat in '04). The first battery I put on there had been on a road tractor, one of a set of four, that had a couple of batteries go bad. I tested this battery and put it on the boat. It lasted five years. Repeat the same story for the present battery that was put on last summer. I don't think I'll be paying no $200 bucks for a "battry" But, obviously, no warranty.
Batteries some last, some don't. Why? Well, I'll try to help without being to
negative. HaHa Those crappy everstart batteries from WM are made in my
hometown, along with a lot of other company names. They are made by
Exide and they acquired the account almost 5 yrs ago. Johnson Controls
used to have the acc. that's probably why some guys last and others don't
The name on the battery doesn't mean they manufactured it. And all of the
manufacturers get cheap when their contract is about over with WM. There
are a lot of reasons batteries fail, but I will tell you what I know: Exide uses
good ole city tap water (we know that our children glow in the dark from
other things) it's an electrolite thing for them. DON'T put any water in your
battery unless your the grids are showing, in theory use distilled to replace,
in truth your battery is already bout cooked, you just don't deplete the
charge with your fishing style until it really becomes obvious. RECHARGE
ASAP and when it's done disconnect your charger. Forget the "maintenance"
BS, if you use it within a month or so it will be fine and last MUCH longer.
Your better off short charging before you go with extended lay-offs. And
finally, trickle charging will make your battery last WRONG WRONG WRONG
The best on-board chargers for your batteries are 10/2 or 10/3 you have to
"mix" the acid solution with the hotter 10amp or the grids in the battery will
"clog" or sulferate. And yes I do run Exide batteries Series 31 whether they
are labeled Everstart, Nautilus, or whatever because we get em cheap
through their outlet store here and recycle after 2 years. If I lived elsewhere
I'd probably buy Trojan. WOW my fingers hurt, Good Luck I hope this helps.
