Hey Central Arkansas, what about starting up a Crappie Fishing Club? It might be great to get together and share stories while crunching on some slab fillets! I'd certainly be intersted if anyone else is. Please let me know what you think. I love to Crappie fish anyway you can possibly do it, jigging, trolling, yo-yo's, camping or whatever!
Yeah I am with you. I would love to see Arkansas have a crappie club. It may get old quick with Jerry and Darryly kicking our butts but would be fun. Not to mention learn a thing or two and meet a few folks.
Shoot, a good butt kicking ain't half bad as long as they share some secrets! LOL.......but seriously, I think it would be a lot of fun who enjoy fishing different areas and catching Crappie year round. It may also be a good way to get those women involved so they might not mind us doing what we love to do. Especially if a few wives get involved occasionally and who knows, they might even want to have a few co-ed tournaments. I know my wife loves to catch and eat crappie.......just not to fond of cleaning them yet!
Sounds like a good idea, never been a member of a fishing club. I would be interested, how do you go about it, and what is involved?

I would think that just getting together for coffee or a quick fishing trip would get things started. I don't know much about fishing clubs, but I used to coon hunt professionally and those clubs were pretty easy to run. Central Arkansas has plenty of good fishing and I just think it would be interesting to get together to learn from each other and who knows, maybe a small group that can keep each other informed where they are biting. Just an idea, but I have'nt seen much repsonse to it?
Sounds like a good thing to me.Why don't we set a date at a lake and see who shows up. I'm with you , sounds like a good way to network and keep up with accruate reports and meet some good folks. I'm in.

Hello guys, I am new here and was reading your post on starting a fishing club. Sounds great, let me know how I can help. I have a friend or two that I know would get involved as well. I am new to central Ar and would love to have something like that to do every once in a while.
Crappie camp might be a good place to meet. I know that its not really in central Arkansas but I think alot of folks are planning on going as am I. Just a thought. Probably would be some folks with enough crappie fishing experience that they might have some advice on setting one up. Any one else with an idea needs to speak up.
I'm in and willing to contribute when I can though I'm pretty tied to Lakes Hamilton and Greeson. It would be a great place to meet others who are interested and actively crappie fishing. I'm sure we could help each other out in many different ways and maybe even take on an annual project like hosting a fishing day for a children's home or something.
I like the way Darryl thinks. I would love to pitch in to organize some sort of kid fish day. By the way Darryl that is a nice fish in your picture, did I read somewhere on here that you caught that one while on a guided trip with that Jerry Blake fella ?:D
I have caught alot of fish with Jerry, but that one I caught when scouting out some spots alone. It was the first fish of the day and a big shocker seeing it come up from 22ft. deep.Quote:

Me too. By Crappie Camp they should be in the shallows big time. For some reason here lately the crappie on Greeson and Hamilton have gone deep despite the warmer than average water temp and moderately stable weather. The past two days, we have been catching them as deep as 30' on Greeson.
I look forward to meeting ya'll at crappie camp. Even if you can't come and stay several days, at least come on out and meet everyone. A Central Arkansas Crappie Fishing Club is a great idea. Crappie Camp will be a good opportunity to get together and visit about it. When we get closer to Crappie Camp lets pick an evening when the majority of those interested in forming a club would be there and get together for a fish fry. The first weekend, Saturday the 1st or Sunday the 2nd would probably be the most convenient for most folks.
We’ve basically already started an informal club right here on the Arkansas forum of crappie.com - sharing techniques, current fishing reports and hot spots. Keep it up and we’ll have a crappie club before we know it. Members will be getting together to share fishing trips, build and sink condos and helping each other out in many ways.
Hey guys I'm not in central Arkansas but would be interested in a crappie club. It would be a good way to learn new places to fish. I plan on going to crappie camp in April. Look forward to talking more about the clup.

When we meet is not that big of a issue for me. I live close enough to drive it in a hour and a half and I am planning to be there both weekends, so I am flexible either way.
That sounds good to me. My wife and I will be there by the first weekend and will stay several days. I will make a dutch oven apple crisp for one of the deserts. We can bring anything else that may be needed.
OK, y'all are making me hungry now! How about we get together Saturday evening - eat say around 7:00. I know that may be a little late for dinner for some folks but it will give folks a chance to get in and get their campsites set up etc. and for Darryl and I wrap up our trips. We can sit around the campfire and talk about forming a club.
If there is another day or time that would be better for anyone "speak now"! :)
Sounds great to me, good idea! Put me down for the baked beans. I amke them with hamburger meat and smoke sausage in them with plenty of onions and spices.
I will only be there for the first weekend so Saturday is great timing for me!
Jerry- I know this may be a dumb question, but do you have enough fish or do we plan on eating fresh fish? I can bring a few bags if you think we need it?

I would be interested in being a member of your crappie fishing club. Need some info on Crappie Camp and all that stuff. Me and a buddy of mine from CO fished with Jerry last March and had a great time. I have got hooked on Crappie.

Hello Guys!! I'm the "New Kid on the Block" to the site and have been reading through numerous topics out here with my mouth just a watering. :)
I would love to participate in a "crappie club" for central Arkansas as well. Based on the conversations in the forum it appears the first gathering is going to attempt to occur at Crappie Camp....I'm going to make an attempt to participate in that event for a couple of days at least....Saturday may be tough for me due to my daughters BDay...So if I happen to not be able to make that initial meeting I wanted to let this audience know that I'm still interested. I'll continue to read and watch the message board to see what comes out of the meeting. However the way my schedule currently looks I may be able to be at crappie camp the first couple of days of the work week!!!
I think it is a great idea and I would be glad to participate.
