A lawsuit was just filed at the end of Jan this year. I highly doubt the court has even heard the case this quick but ya never know.

Places are still taking orders for them,saying they are in short supply taking about 4-6 weeks to get them on 8 &10 inch units with Si gizmo.

I just got an e-mail from LOWRANCE and there doesn't seem to be a problem, I hope the two sides can get togather and live in peace and not screw up everyones party. both sides!! work it out

I DONT SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WITH A LITTLE COMPETION,seems to me it's you build a better product.my experiences with my new 997, i hope Lowrance keeps making their side view and gar min start-es making a side view all-so. wish i was on the jury

Competition is good! But in a nutshell, if it took you years and millions of dollars to develop a product, put it on the market, and then someone copies your exact product, you wouldn't be happy. That's the purpose of patent laws. Without the laws,there wouldn't be any reward for companies to invest their dollars or their time in developing new products. Our depth finders would still be a rock and a string.:)

There is no copying there, Lowrance is twice the graph as The Bird in clarity and detail.:D

it's me again margarete, I remember reading somewhere that lowrance has been in the structure scan business long time, as long or longer than humminbird,

That's a great thing that Lowrance is twice as good. I'm sure all the folks waiting for customer service answer the phone or take care of their faulty products take solace in that they are twice as good. After 2 incidents with 2 separate Lowrance products, I switched. To each his own.

To say Lowrance and MotorGuide were caught with their pants down by Humminbird/Minn Kota would be a huge understatement. The SI birds and Auto pilot Kota's IMO has left the other boys in the dust. Lowrance is trying to play catch up though. I believe if MG wasn't owned by Mercury, they would have folded up by now.

True I own a HDS 7 but also have had a Humming Bird, JMHO I think the graphics are twice as good..as far as customer support I haven't needed it.......so far;)

Lowrance has been retooling the customer service dept. Many of the callers lately have reported very good cs, and have been more then satisfied with the support they recieved. Less then 10 minutes wait time in most cases. Customer service does not make a product better.

Also, side imaging has been around since the 60's so I guess if anyone would be mad, it'd be the guys that created it. I think Beagleman is on to something.

Like you said though, to each his own. Enjoy your C.S. from HB.

I don't think catch up is the correct term with regards to the HDS and SS units. I'd probably call it "leap frog". ;)

Since almost every new boat I see comes with an MG, I doubt they are going in the crapper. The autopilots have a limited audience, make no mistake. For a guy that fishes in timber 90% of the time, I know I couldn't have an unresponsive steering unit.

I heard that Lowrance paid for the rights to build the side image , that could be why the service is so good at Humminbird and so bad at Lowrance .

Sorry about that CP. I was looking at that yesterday in the garage and remembered I was going to send it. I will get it out this Saturday.

Don't give up on me yet.

Also have a spare tx with temp and they splitter cable and a new power cable with choke. Do you want me to through these in also? The tx has a small break in one of the eyes, but I imagine with a little epoxy, it'd be as good as new.
