I was suprised that the water temp was only 68-69 degrees. It was very windy and I had to hunt for places to try and fish mostly out of the wind. I ended up with 30 and kept 21. Could not get pic to upload, sorry.

Roger, Will you share a little information. Were crappie in coves and creeks or on river channel? How deep ? Minnows or Jigs ? :)
I don't mind sharing a bit of info Pops, yesterday the Crappie on Neely were 1/3 the way up a creek from the mouth on a flat from 6-8' deep hitting longline trolled jigs pulled at .8-1.0 mph... anything faster and the little Stripes would be all over ya, and they'd still hit it going slow too!
The chilly nights, high winds, and rain last weekend have cooled the water off by 6-8*F.
Last weekend, I had success fishing small coves that were sheilded from the wind longlining in 6 - 8 ft of water going 1.1 mph. 1/16 oz. jig with black and chart. hot grub. Also, pushing minnows around docks and fishing minnows under docks with slip float worked good as long as the dock had at least 6 ft of water under it. Caught about 30 with only 15 being keepers.
To answer Pop's question==Yes:rolleyes:
Really???..Well, now I know who I won't be sharing any of my tips with..

No joke, I heard the other day that someone had caught a bunch of crappie using earthworms. I also heard of this about 10 years ago. Never have tried it but might need to since I have a good suppply available.
We do have a lot of fun at these club tournaments. We have children and women fishing on some of the teams so it is family centered. I will probably be fishing with my grandson this Saturday. There is not much money involved so it is mostly for the fun of friendly competition and the fellowship. We have a meeting and BIG dinner once a year and it is great, wish we had more. We encourage anyone who would like to join us to come on out and see what its all about. Even if you don't want to fish the tournament you could come watch the weigh in and just see what goes on. You can learn a lot about types of crappie fishing you may not be familiar with and check out some of the boats and see how folks have them set up for different types of fishing. You can fish any way you want to as long as its legal by state laws. Hope to see everyone this Saturday.
Where's it going to be and how much is the entry fee?... never mind, I backed up a page and found the info.:rolleyes:
What time is the weigh in?
Our normal fishing hours are 6:30 till 3:00 and we must be back to the weigh in by 4:00. Most teams will be at the weigh in at or shortly after 3:00. Sometimes we will vote to stop at 2:00 if the weather is hot or there is something else going on. Come by and cheeck us out or better yet come and fish with us, its fun. The sign up and weigh in will be at Town & Country / BP station on Hwy. 231.
