Basically, you're gonna get 2 answers. 10# Mono something or other and 30# braid something or other.
I'm in the mono camp at the moment.
Wannabe...
Thanks WB I don't care what CN and DD said about you, your alright
I use 6 lb. Mr. Crappie High vis yellow on my jig poles and 15 Lb. Mr Crappie high vis yellow on my crank trolling poles I am old school...I just like mono.
I like the braided line personally. I don't lose to many cranks that way. You WILL get hungup and with braid, you'll get more back. Then if you run across some trash or weeds, you won't notice it as easily if you have Mono on but with Braid, you'll see the line stop twitching from the wobble of the crank. Just my humble opinion
Yeppers...line is just like rod holders, trucks, and a lot of other things....everything has good points and bad points. Ya just got to try different ones and come up with what you like. I bet I have thirty different kinds of line out in my shop right now that I have tried out in the last few years.
I like 10# Viscious hi vis for cranks.
Pay no attention to G-3. He's always been "one off".
Wannabe...
I'm using the Stren 10lb high vis yellow at WB's recommendation and I like it. Wow:eek:Can't believe I said it.:D
I knew Wannabe was a mono man. :)
10lb brush busting slab jerking Mr Crappie Hi Vis for me...not none of that puny sissified 6-lb stuff...DK...I proud you gonna graduate and all but you missed some education somewhere on crappie fishing...lol.
If the only place I was going to was pull were the Big 4 I would use mono in the 8-12 pound range. But if you pull wrer there is standing timber you better go with braid or have a deep wallet for buying crankbaits. I have only pulled on Sardis about 5 or 6 times and got hung once. There are days on my home lake of Greers Ferry that I may get hung a dozen times so I use braid.
all we have is trees. That and you'll go from 30 FOW to 8 FOW real quick sometimes and bouncing off the bottom a good bit will fray the line and you'll lose cranks that way. Braid is the only way for me
I have always used 20# braid. Its the same diameter as 6lb mono and if you fish any of these lakes with stumps you will almost always get your bait back. Gar will have a hard time breaking braid.
Chotard was the first time I dealt with them. They are fun but good god man, over 40 of them in one day got old
watch out maj. talk like that wb will put you on KP
