does anybody have or know anything about terova trolling motors? do you like em?
yes
What ya wanna know? Yikes loves his. Sac loves his PDV2 and Mr. Jim loves his PD.
I've been running a PD with AP and Co-Pilot for the last few months or so and am putting a Terrova on the new boat.
Wannabe...
Just put a new pd on tues.
I have been running my Terrova about 4 months and like it pretty well. I have the Terrova 101 with I-Pilot and us2. It is the 36 volt.
My dad has one also.
We have both broke the shafts on the motors and had them replaced under warranty. This surprised me a bit. I broke mine with not a really hard hit to a stump. Dad broke his and does not know when he done it.
The motor will pull my Predator at 4 mph top speed and will fish 2 days without charge. Never tried it longer than that.
The I-pilot is great but does not work exactly like you would gather from the advertising. The spot lock will hold you close probably 10 feet circle when you account for changing wind directions. Great for slow trolling but not near close enough to hand fish. I love this feature when I am setting out and baiting trolling poles.
Track re-play works but when it gets a little off course it will speed way up to .9 or 1 mph to get itself back on track. So it overrides the cruise control speed you set. This is of course way to fast for slow trolling. But for long lining or pulling cranks it is the cat's meow. (You like that CN?)
All in all I would spend the money again. Just be prepared for a learning curve and a little tarnishing of the bright dreams you glimmer from the advertising.
good, this is what i was wanting to hear, i just bought one with the ap.
do ya'll have the built in sonar or strap your transducer to motor?
We have both. I am using SI on the front so the strap on transducer is the way to go. I have used the US2 with no problems for bottom finding but no SI. My dad does not use SI on front so he uses the US2 and it works great with the humminbirds at least.
I do like that, CrappieHunter. :)
US2 is a much cleaner install.
The Terrova with the co-pilot is the next best thing to having a smarty pants guide doing the driving while pulling cranks or long lining. Meow
Does the PD work ok for hand fishing?
Yes, I think it does pretty dang good. 2 catches though, there is no way to fish 2 poles and run the remote and I have to put my eye on the top of the motor to see where it's pointing. Kind of aggrivating to take you eye off you line or the top you're fishing.
Terrova is supposed to be a quicker response, but I've got no complaint on how fast the PD turns.
Wannabe...
Dude, the PDV2 w/US2 and Co-pilot is almost orgasmic to own..If you want to "blow" $400 more go for it with the Terrova as I have 0 experience with them...The foot control is ok for the V2 but the remote for the co-pilot is straight up the BOMB, other than all the beeping it is the greatest thing since they invented fire...The remote gives you more fine tune control. It is aawkard holding a remote in one hand but I''m gonna get used to it REAL quick as this is the funnest time I have had on the water other than when I was a kid. And most folks are like I was and had no idea all this stuff exists. Someone on the lake was talking about me using a remote and they were about 100 feet away and I could hear one person say "he's running the TM with a remote" and the other feller said "no man no way" and the guy said "watch him he is" so I walked to the back and floored it with the remote and the 24V 70 pound monster roared up and away we went...
Terrova-i-pilot....Best money I ever spent on my boat.
I use the Terrova with the co-pilot[Hand,est thing goinin with the brackettes on all my rods] I,d get the I-pilot just to get the anchor but I,d have to give up the co-pilot--I fish mostly timber so its handy to have the control on the rods--
frank the best $400 you will spend ask jw or cp
I'd just hope that remote is water proof.
of course they are...and they float too.
minn kota needs to make cell phones:D
A section of swimming pool noodle works great...you can secure it with a couple of wire ties.
