Billbob my 798 would do the same thing. Found one of the connections on my battery loose (wing nut not tight) . Tightened it down and works fine now. Mine would lock up and only way to git it back on was unplug and replug it. Then it would work fine unless I cranked the motor again with it on.
billbob knows my 997 does the same thing as his 997 and my lcx 27 (connected to same point) doesn't shut down. I believe the HB is more impulse noise susceptible than the LOW.
My connections are excellent.
Did you guys ever decide which one you like better? I've been looking for the comparison, just wanted to make sure I didn't miss it.
CP, I wonder if that is a drive space issue, maybe that's why it started working again after you removed the waypoints. You do have the preloaded maps on yours, right? I'm guessing those maps take up most of the hard drive on it and then adding the update may have maxed it out, just taking a W.A.G.:)
What you guys doing?? I can start my big motor and have no problem. Both units stay on and working
Ya'll got that over rated #6 run to your TM right?? Maybe some TM noise??
Oh yea if you need #6 to your TM then you need 250MCM to your gas motor :D:p
I had the same problem ( the freeze ) on start up. I previously had a 987C installed and just used the 987 's power hook up. After a couple trips of putting up with this I installed the 997's power cord and the problem disappeared. Only difference I can see is the " ball " on the 997 cord. Also eliminated a slight interference problem.
