Welcome to the Oklahoma Crappie.com, Hole Shot. I know you will like it here...great people, great fishermen and women and lots of fishing know how.
Welcome to the board!
Have you been up to the Mud Creek area? When I lived in Sand Springs a few years back, I used to fish Keystone a LOT. At this time of year, the North end of the Mud Creek area was always hot. The Crappie should be very close to the bank there in very shallow water.
Good luck!

No I've never fished Mud Creek at all. When my Dad lived at what they used to call Keystone Colony we fished Cow Skin Bay South and Salt creek and done very well crappie fishing. My brother and I have been fishing Eufaula and are trying to find something a little closer due to the driving time. I will never give up fishing Eufaula, there are too many areas to fish. I fished the Rock Creek area yesterday and caught 22. The smallest 11" and the largest 13.75". Sorry no scales with me lol. Thanks for the welcome.

At the link below is a map. Mud Creek is just east of New Prue. I put in at Washington Irving and then traveled north and east to Mud Creek. Scroll down and high res map is down the page on the right hand side.
A Guide to Birding in Oklahoma - Keytstone Lake
fished keystone today 4-18-2010 from 2:pm until 5:pm. brought home 21 real good keepers all around 10". three were 12" and 13". all male except 2. bigest was 13" female full of real mushy eggs. caught close to bank in two f.o.w. mostly on charlie brewers slider jigs. color pink with white paddle tail. weather wasnt too friendly as everone probably knows but water was warm and catching fish always helps. sorry but dont know how to post pics yet.
I've been catching some there and some other more proficient anglers have been catchig limits. The fish seem scatterred but still shallow along banks. Most of mine were caught at two to four ft deep over two to eight fow. Minnows really out done the jigs but either way getting bit. Anyone else fishing the lake? The water mocassins have been particularly aggressive, charging right up to my boat. One floated there alongside the boat with his mouth wide open showing off his pearly white mouth and fangs! I think it mating or pre-mating time for em. Wading would be outa the question.
I'm heading to Keystone tomorrow with my dad. We'll be in a little 15' flat-back canoe with a trolling motor. Any tips on where we should put in? I'd like to stay away from the main boat lanes so I was looking for a cove with a convenient boat ramp or decent shore access where we can put the canoe in. I'm looking at a map of Keystone and it looks like maybe The Salt Creek Cove area or Possibley way up in that cove over by Prue. But I'm open to suggestions :D
I've only been to Keystone a handful of times and have no idea where the good spots are. I have a little Lowrance Mark5 so if it comes down to it I can just stumble around a bay until I find some cover or structure that looks promising and see what bites.
