Sure. We need to get ahold of Chris! We are you Chris?
Im in. I can make my donations to the tournaments(entry fees). lol Because I am pretty sure I wont be bringing in any of the winnings
I would like to try and fish tourneys with ya'll if time and money will alow. Also like the idea of fishing different lakes although I haven't got any one lake figured out yet. lol
I would fish some and there are a couple other guys here in Batesville that would fish.
It has been a few years since this subject has been discussed. Chris (CEB) and Gooch stepped up to try to get us all meeting for a while. Problem is, these type of clubs takes a lot of dedication from just a few people. I would love to be in a fishing club. But, I barely have the time to go fishing much less time to didicate to organizing a bunch of fishermen.
BTW
I was the last president of the local Propeller Club. No one else would step up to be the president for the last 3 years of it's existance. Kind of gave me a bad taste for organizing this stuff my self.
DP
DP is right about the time and energy required to build and maintain an organized club.
I'll throw out this idea though. Why not consider doing some club style tourneys with the folks here on the site and see if the concept can get some traction. That would let the folks that would like to participate have a chance to meet and fish and share thoughts on how to organize moving foward. Rotate around to different places and maybe do 3 or 4 of these before anyone has to make a time and financial committment. Also provides the opportunity to invite friends not on here which would hopefully lead to a little larger member base coming out of the gates. Just some food for thought...
I would love to make a donation as well as the general.
Count me in! And I'll do whatever I can to help.
Arkansas Crappie Club (ACC) sounds good already. Count me in if the meetings are held to once per month and membership fees are annual and reasonable.
So, who's stepping up to take the lead?
I'm in VA so I shouldn't speak probably, but one thing I have seen on the VA board is a pretty loyal group that do "Bream Bashes" and "Crappie Bashes" a couple times a year. If you guys find the club isn't getting traction due to time constraints, this may be a good option that gets you fishing together and fishing more lakes throughout the years.
If I ever move back, I'd join in a heartbeat!
I hope we can get something off the ground. If you really want to know how difficult it is to get everyone together, just ask Jerry Blake about his Crappie Camps. He busted his butt for a few years. I volunteered to do the cooking for the last couple of camps he had. I had some help; (Thanks Fishbasket). I have never tried to participate in anything where the weather was so uncoperative. (how do you spell that?) If you didn't freeze you hiney off, it would blow away.
So, my suggestion is to do them well after the Spring fronts come through. And just do 3 or 4 a year so they will not get too routine. Unless you guys are really serious about doing tournaments and not just talking about getting together.

I'm with MidSouth Man! Count me in. I could help some but not take the lead. Too many other commitments already. Hope this gets off the ground.
Why not try and start with two tourneys. One @ Lake Conway and one @ Lake Greeson and see what kind of interest you get. Plan one for the Fall of 2010 and the other spring of 2011. Get 4 or 5 guys working on each, that way there are around 10 different people involved instead of 1 or 2. Atleast you could find out how much true interest you have. Those 2 lakes both have places to stay and are good crappie lakes. I would help with the one @ Greeson, I've never even fished in a tourney before, but would have fun trying. Just my 2 cents....................:D
i would be glad to participate, and probably know several others who would. I think it would be a good idea for several people from the area the tourny's are in to help and not have so much on a couple of people.
I am in.
I live in Texarkana, TX. There is A crappie club in Texas called CAT (Crappie anglers of Texas). Being about as far away from Dallas (CAT strong hold) as I am, I cannot participate. You might consider different chapters of a state crappie club.(example: NE, NW, Central, SE & SW). Having tournaments hosted by different chapters. After all, We all have our goto crappie lake.
just my .02
I can speak from experince on this one. I was President at Blue Rock Gun Club for a few years as well as vp, sect, tres and everything else, janitor, plumber, roofer, maitence man, electrician...well, not electrician...:D..at one time or another in my years out there.
Rule #1....10% of the members (or less) will do 110% of the work. So dedication is a must.
Rule #2....when it comes to the organizing / planning tournaments....paperwork here, not physical, that goes down to 2% (or less)
Rule #3....You MUST have a very forgiving wife / GF or....a very good lawyer.
MG :)
I agree with ya'll. Lets have a couple to start with and try to keep them low maintenance kinda like the MS boys do with their FJ tourneys. Like a one day tourney. That way you wouldn't have to stay over night or cook or camp. Of course those that pre fish could all get together if they wanted too. The bass guys have tourneys weekly on Greers and I have fished in some of them and I love the competition. Any way that I can help on a crappie tournament in central AR I will. After reading MG's post I may be getting in over my head, but I will try to help if I can.
I am interested if meetings are once a month and membership fees and entry fees are reasonable.
count me and the wife in
This is the one thing that must happen to have a Club/or tournaments. It can be as simple as someone drawing up a schedule, rules, and bringing the scales, taking entry fees, and giving payouts for the event. If it's a club then the President must also be responsible for arrangeing a suitable time and meeting place prior to event's. Ohhh and I forgot to mention handle any complaint's:eek:
I would perfer a club format and meeting prior to events.
This is a great idea but until someone steps up and takes charge of it. We are just spinning our wheels. So with all this said do we have any nominees for the ACC President. :D
I would be brave enough to step up(atleast I think), however I never know when Ill be deployed. I will help as much as possible while I am home though
If someone can come up with a place around Little Rock to meet (free) I will try and get a metting together.
I live in East End A small town south of Little Rock.
Call or PM me.

What about just meeting at a park. Also some restaurants have bigger rooms we could meet. Just thinking
Guys - Conway seems to be the "perfect" central location for this. Strouds Diner would be exceptional and they have good food!
I will go on a limb here and nominate CrappiePro as President as he lives close and is a dang good fisherman!
How about a "Greers Ferry Lake Crappie Society"? I could do a Lake Conway/Greers Ferry Lake club also.
I think all ideas are welcome at this point.
maybe a meeting should be set and let nominations for president and any other positions be done at that time. Also for rules ideas to put forth and voted on at that time. Not sure if that makes any sense to anyone else or not b/c iI don't know the first thing abotu setting something like this up.:)
Alright so lets all meet somewhere. Conway has already been mentioned and it would be super convenient for me. Could we vote on were to meet and the town with the most votes is where we could meet at first? How do we get this thing going?
If you decide to meet in Conway let me know. I have been involved in the formation of several clubs and could offer my knowledge on the subject. I am unable to hold an office due to my limited physical abilities, but I would be glad to lend what I know. I do think its time for a Nightstalk on Conway anyhow. I bet DRPEPPER remembers the one we did in Feb a few years ago. It was so cold the bait froze to death in our hands before we could put them on a hook. But the rally was great and putting faces to names was something to be remembered. Tight lines and I hope to see ya'll reel soon.
Hello fellow crappie fisherpeople. I posted a theard last week about a Crappie club and a Crappie Tournament. I will be working on an entry form that I will place at Bates and at Morrilton bait shop on HWY 9, at the sporting goods store in Perryville on HWY 60 and Online at my email address.
Im thinking that Saturday May 22, On Lake Conway from 7 Till 330 , with and entry of $50.00 and we can all launch from Lawerence Landing Launch.Give me some feedback on this please. my email is [email protected]
