I don't know what you plan on using it for, but if it's that drop of glue after it's tied then it will leave a hard spot and personally I don't want to be able to feel anything where I put the glue. I very seldom use super glue except in a few special ties. I also don't buy head cement and I make mine out of Clear High Gloss Lacquer and thinned with MEK so that it's pretty thin.
Also Sally Henson's Hard as Nail clear nail polish is about the same thing. I would think most clear nail polishes are, but not positive since I only use that one for what I use it for which is also not for the drop.

You really do not need the head cement or super glue if you finish off the tie correctly, it is more of a mental thing than anything else. Allot of the tiers who sell there jigs use head cement as a back up to their whip finish sort of a just in case the finish doesnt hold. Again it is probably more of a personal preference than required.
cool,my mom has lots of nail polish,so i could use some of that.im not a good fly/jig tier.i would kind of worry if my stuff came undone after a bunch of use to it.with the cement or whatever i figure i could be 100% sure it won't come undone.im more concerned about functionality versus looking absolutely perfect.but maybe i should look up correct tying knots and just experiment.come to think of it we all tie a knot to the jigs/hooks ect that we fish with without thinking about it coming undone :D. i've read that you can use nail polish to seal primer pockets, and around where the bullet meets the cartridge case in cartridges just like a military ammunition factory would do sometimes with laquer and it does the same thing.anyways thanks for the info.I don't have a whole of patience with things sometimes but i want to do some jigs on tiny jigheads and see what its all about.
Well I would thin it at least. All I want is it to soak in so fast you can tell it's there. It will help keep the thread from slipping and even hard to get it back off if you should ever want to re-do it.
A knot is a Knot until it's not, but a whip finish is different and that is the best finish for a jig or fly. Learn to do a whip finish. It's really nothing like anything you tie a bait on your line with.

ok, but", what kind of epoxy would be the thing for attaching 3D eyes to the side of a lead heads?I hear that there is one or two in particular, but don't" amember what it is!any one?anyone?Buller?anyone?Buller?
Super glue can work, but a good whip finish and thin head cement is best. I like 3-4 wraps of a whip finish then repeat and add a drop of cement on top.
You will certainly still catch fish if you super glue it.
Grub, you don't need epoxy, way too much time involved, plus most will yellow over time, just brush some clear nail polish over the eyes and you're done.
ok clear nail polish secured! lol ;) The other day i had a little brainstorm.I would get off my hind end and acually do something if i could do the things i want to do here right next to the computer!I told my dad of this, and he found the old fly tying kit and brought it up here.I can set it up on my computer desk and still be right next to the computer. In fact the computer can help if i go to a site for information and has videos or pictures, and i wont have to get up from working with the jigs n stuff to go to the computer! It helped when I was taking the trigger group out of an ak47.i have a yellow and green bucktails and a bunch of other bits of animal hides downstairs to use.i wish i had some more flashy brightcolored stuff to use.
Super glue works great... I put a drop on every jig I tie and I have never once had a jig come apart and I've caught dozens and dozens of fish on the same jig. You cant even tell its on mine unless you sit there and inspect it closely. Its not noticeable with the naked eye and I hold the head when shooting so I never know its there and I'm quiet certain the fish dont either.
I use clear nail polish too. Works for me.
clear/ 300deg.good now" thanks man:D
