according to the weather? Not going to pay money to be miserable.
i hear ya torch, brings memories of our fj on grenada.
Wind BITES. Maybe it'll be better by then
Ill be there....Spose to be nice weather.
Saturday is going to rain all day and a friday looks good except for the wind.
I'll be there!
I'm there!
If CM ever gets their payout where it is supposed to be more people will fish it. As it is now the payout still SUCKS like it did last year!!!
I think when you have 300 boats at 300 each and a Chamber of commerce that chips in 60 to 80k it should be better than what it is.
atleast 15-20 grand with the 150,000 to 175,000 that was taken in
Cant tell me someone didnt PAD their Pockets a lot.
when you got all those salaries to pay who else is supposed to pay it? How much was paid out? It's easy to do the math? What tourney are you referring to and I will get it off their website.
the payout is based on a 70 boat field. If the payout is less it means they didn't have a full boat field. They usually have somewhere around that or a little less.
people don,t realize how much time and miles they(both tournament trails )put in to have these tournaments, they have to make something for doing it and have to pay the help. They have to get mtel rooms just like the fishermen do and they have to buy gas just like we do to.
I don't know how the guys afford to fish these tournaments, with gas and motels, food, plus having to take off work without pay to pre fish the tournament.
I think most of the regular tournament guys have there own business or have very good jobs, or retired and they can afford to travel and fish, but everybody is not in that bracket. And CM and CUSA will slowly die if new members are not brought in
The little guys can't do it, so if CM and CUSA are gonna survive and continue to grow, something has to give. It's the same old people in every tournament, very few new guys.
Another thing, the two day tournaments are killing the guys, it's making money for the city of the tournament, but if they keep up with the 2 day tournaments CM and CUSA will die on the vine.
It reminds me of when I came back from Viet-Nam, and tried to join the VFW, they said I couldn't because Viet-Nam was not declared a real war only a conflict.
The old members started dieing off, and when they realized they was gonna die, if new members were not allowed in [Viet-Nam] they changed there rules to allow Viet-Nam vets in.
Is this making any sense to yall, am I the only one that see's this. There is so many under the table dealing with these tournaments.
I've said enough....

For the First time CRAPPIE COWBOY, since I have been on here, I agree with you 100 percent.
Very well said Crappie Cowboy. I hope someone from either of the two trails gets a chance to read this.
Folks will think we are bashing but I feel its a real problem.
I agree with Cowboy. LOL
I've been fishing bass tournaments for the last 15 years and the last 5 years or so we've seen the entry fees go up and payouts down. Well finally enough people started complaining and some new trails were started with excellent payouts, over 90% payouts. A couple even have 100% payouts because sponsors donate money as well as the entries being paid. The great thing about our country is that we have the free market which enables competition. If there are enough dissatified people then it won't be long before a better deal comes along.
What I don't understand is all you guys are complaining about the payout and looking for a tournament that pays more. Well MCC pays out 130% at each tournament. That's right we payout more at each tournament then we take in.
The word on the street is Crappie Masters entry fees will go up substantilly next year.
Hugh I keep saying I will fish MCC, but I will have to do some rearranging on my duck hunting to fish the early tourneys and qualify for the points race. I start now Nov1 in Missouri and finish up the end of Jan.
MS SLAB I've never fished a crappie tournament but if and when I ever do it'll be with MCC. I've heard nothing but great things about ya'lls club. You guys should mosey on over to the east side of the state one day and fish Okatibbee.
I'd jump in Hugh, but you got any idea how many gall bladder co-pays all that travel money would eat up? I think for now, I'll just stand over here in the corner and look pretty.

Lunker - We used to fish Okatibbee but we lost our 2 members over there that worked the sponsorships. We are a non-profit organization and the only way we can afford to payout more then we take in on tournament day is to have sponsorships.
Torch - I have told you that you can miss 2 of the scheduled events and still qualify for the championship. The rules state you must fish or pay for all but 2 held tournaments and have accumulated 90 points. You get 10 points a tournament for entering and a point a pound for you catch. There are also sponsorship exemptions for sponsorships of or over $2500. Your partner could also fish a tournament or two without you.
This year we will be fishing for somewhere in the neighborhood of $20,000-$25,000 in our championship. We pay down 20 spots each day of the two day championship. The two day weights are combined and the heaviest weight gets an additional $500 and is crowned champs. We have 35 teams so far that are eligible to qualify for the championship right now. That's pretty good odds that at least one day you will finish in the top 20 and get a check.
DonDon, Torch - I have always enjoyed your post and have the upmost respect for both of you but you guys are making no sense to me. Hopefully you understand and respect why. I don't know of any tournament on the CM trail that has drawn this amount of money.
If you take the case of the one pole tourny last week in Ark., the CoC gave up 20K to hold it. Then the entries at 325.00 per boat and boat totals at 80, this is another 26k. A total of 46k. drawn in for the tourny. This tournament was a 100% payback in cash and prizes for the entries drawn(26k). I assume the other 20k goes toward salaries and expenses of CM.
If you take this further and use it as an average for 10 tourneys, this is 200k. With three full time personnel on the CM staff, this leaves 66k per person anually, BEFORE expenses.
I am not trying to start an argument here and maybe I don't know all of the facts but it seems pretty fair to me.
Again, not trying to start a big debate, but I really would like to understand more from your point of view.
Midsouth, check your pm!
Are you guys hiring? I'd love to make 66K (before expenses) to help run a crappie circuit.
Number wise, something just doesn't sound right. Hugh, we WILL be in some of them next year, not all of them mind ya but we will fish some next year.
DD, I stated in last years championship at Grenada they had 215 teams at 300 which is 65k and Grenada Tourism kicked in another 60. I just felt bad for the guys that placed 11th thru 20th. That was all I was saying and if guys are going to spend the entry fee and take off work, plus the cost of rooms and gas and food it needs to be a little more competitive.
Oh come on Satdoc don't ya agree that I have sexy legs to??? Well now you agree 100 percent on this one, man we're making head way here, maybe some where down the road we might be buddies.
You know I believe we might be the two oldest farts on this board? :D

I did a quick calc on expenses and gas, food, lodging, entry fee, all this counting just 1 day of prefishing mind ya. That's anywhere from 650 for someone that lives only a couple to 3 hours away to a cool grand for someone living 8-15 hours away. I know it costs Nessa and I between 250 and 300 per FJ tourney when we prefish and stay the night.Heck, pulling that heavy boat, I spend 75 just in gas for the truck, then 60-75 for a room, boat gas, minners, FOOD, Drinks, things like that add up quick
You guys are making some good points and don't get me wrong, I think both trails need to consider some of them.
What I wanna know is which idjit told ya'll you could make money Crappie fishing. I need to hire him as a salesmen, so shoot me his cell phone number in a PM. Bwahahaha.
Wannabe...
