Lake Ouachita - 4/17 FLW
Hey fellas.... Indiana here...
I am fishing the college FLW stop on Ouachita next month...I have never been further into Arkansas than West Helena, let alone to the lake....
Looking for some pointers specifically about the lake....Biggest lake I've ever fished is about 3,300 acres so I'll be a little bit out of my league down there....
I hear zara spooks, white spinnerbaits and finesse craw baits work well...I'm banking on some lipless cranks also...
PM me on here if you can or just reply...
Thanks!

If the Bass are still on the beds , try floating worms.;)

I don't catch bass on purpose. But, this time of year on Quachita I catch more than I want on black crappie jigs or roostertails. Shad colors work well too. I haven't been yet this year, so, I don't know for sure. But, the water can be gin clear. So, be prepared for some long casting.
Good Luck

Some friends and I use rogues a lot in the spring there. I always fish the backs of the coves in the spring, If your going to be fishing the river around big/little fir..hit three fingers for sure.

I havent fished there but know a bunch of guys that do. The consistent theme I hear is red lipless ripped in the grass, green pumpkin wacky worms and senkos and spinnerbaits.
Hard to beat a wiggle wart this time of year too on the diamond lakes.
Good luck!!

Thanks for your responses guys! We're looking to place in a decent spot. There will be 40 schools there and we're new to the game.
Again Thanks!,

I've had wonderful luck with the Storm Rattlin Chug Bug that resembles a shad - a top water popper. Cast into a rocky point and work it back to the boat.

Salty Craw/Spider Jig rootbeer color with green metal flake, texas rig or on a flatfaced jig head with weed guard. ;)

Hey Indiana, I hope you do really well on Ouichita in a couple weeks, BUT let me add this, I hope them AR boys are just a few oz ahead of ya.

The south has hundreds of lakes that are over 20,000 acres in size.
That is one of the reasons the south has such good fishing. There are hundreds of massive lakes, so the fisherman can disperse onto all of the water, and it is harder to over- fish the southern lakes.
Here on Kentucky lake there is about 160,000 acres of water.
I beleive the lake you are going to be fishing is around 40,000 acres in size, so it is a very large lake.
Arkansas is a great outdoor state, there is lots of good hunting and fishing, so you should have a great fishing trip.
Good Luck on your fishing season.:)
