does any one ever use elbow spinners with there jigs? and where can i buy elbow spinners in bulk?
I do use them on marabou jigs alot while trolling and some casting, personaly prefer them to RR's. Makes switching out your jig color fast and easy and you don't get feathers or hair wrapped in the swivel nearly as often as RR's. I also use the Idaho style spinners... same idea but with the spinner in-line with the jig. Here's a pic pulled from Jann's Netcraft if your not sure what i'm talking about.

I have used some and caught some fish on safety pin spinners, but when you say bulk, what do you mean?
I like Roadrunner a lot more personally and hardly use the safety pin spinners even though I have a lot of them, they just sit in my room here on the shelf.
I just looked at where I buy my blades and they didn't have these made up. I would just do a search for Safety pin spinners.

hey atticafish can u post a link to that spinner cant swam to find it on Jann's Netcraft
when i said bulk i should of said like a pack of 25 or so
when you make your roadrunner jigs do you use any special size of blades and do u paint your eyes on or do you use the 3D eyes?
Links to Jann's.....
They actually call the safety pin or elbow style - Jig Spinners - have the forms in 25/pack but rest are only 2/pack.
Here's the link to the other one - Hildebrandt Idaho Spinner
I use the blades that come with them or order the same size if I need other type blades like willow leaf as I like them. Each size has a blade size.
I paint the eyes on mine. The 3D eyes wouldn't be very good on them since the Roadrunner eyes bulge out some and the 3D need and inset.
Oh and I don't make them, but I do tie them. I buy the heads from Blakemore. You would want to do that as it takes a lot of heads to buy from them and not easy to do. Plus you have to wait until they are made in what ever country they come from. If you should want some unpainted I may be able to help with that.

Barlow's has them also.I have some on the way.10 pack for $2.99 size 0 blade.
i've been thinking about buying a Horse Head & Pony Head Jig mold from do-itmolds.com mold number 1220 that does jig head from 1/48 1/32 1/16 1/8 3/16 1/4 and it recomends a #12 crane swivel but it dont recomend a blade size?

The elbow spinners you talk of I'm assuming are beetle spin type, you can get them from Jann's or Barlows. You can also make your own if you want to add that to your tackle making.
the web site doesn't list it but sometimes you can see it in the printed catalouge. 1/48 1/32 size 00 or 0 blade, 1/16 1/8 3/16 size 0, 1 and even
2's 1/4 oz. size 1 and 2. You can use colorado, indiana, willow whatever.
I can tell you since I have the molds. I hadn't bought parts for my molds for several years and was totally shocked when I priced them out, Hagens had everything and was actually quite reasonable.
My hooks I bought at Capt Hooks (7000 of them). DON"T BUY HOOKS ON EBAY UNLESS one of the guys here has a store.

Crappie Josh, For your roadrunners use #12 ball bearing swivels instead of crane. They cost just a little more and I think you will like them a lot more. Barlows has BB swivels at 3.32 for 25 or 11.96 for 100. They have cranes for 5.35 for 100. You will also need split rings I use #2 but you could use a #1 also at barlows at 4.90 per 100. And the blades I use are #0 Indiana 3.63 per 100. And of course sickle hooks!! Hope this helps a little, I only pour 1/32 and 1/16 roadrunners
ya i do most of my fishing with 1/16 oz jig thats just the siez i've came to really like
is a ball bearing swivel and a barrel swivel the same thing?
Here's a couple with a size 0 blade and a 1/10 oz. ultra minnow.I usually catch bass with them, but am trying another bait choice.Hope the crappie like them.
Around this neck of the woods we refer to them as " clip ons ". They can be super deadly on crappie at times. I would venture to say its worthy to be a part of every crappie fishermans arsenal.
An aquaintance of mine was complaining that the crappie in his pond were lockjawed. One late summer evening I cast one of these by his floating dock. Lets just say he was impressed. My theory is that it simulates a small school of minnows with all the flash.
if you have ever seined minnows and watched ahead of the net you would see them rolling and flashing. So while Mr Crappie won't move his fat butt chasing one minnow he may attack a school.
Micro-mini spinner baits work much the same magic. I usually break these and the clip-ons out on a tough day.
Gonna have to be REAL carefule of what size your get if you have any of the DO it horse/pony head molds. If they're too big you have to modify the slot so they'rd fit.
