Hey Terry,
Glad you got out with your son. You can't do any better than that. Those fish were tough the other day when we talked. Hope you all had a large time today. Great looking son.Hope you stay on the fish this week.I plan on cuttin loose week after next and maybe you can give me a good report. Take care and play safe on the water. Looks like Merrit needs to give you another lesson........Ifish
Nice crappie and twelve is better then zero and you at least got out on the water. I am hoping to get out next weekend but there is a cold front coming in Saturday that will probably keep me from wasting the gas.
Congrats on the catch, Wiskers.
Man alive, who threw the switch today? I had 15 yesterday and had to scratch for 5 today.
At least you got to go fishing with your son, catching the fish was just a bonus. Some nice slabs.
Nice to meet your son today Terry. We just kinda packed up and went back home for a neighbors fish fry. Maybe see ya tomorrow.
... your boy has that same serious "smile" on his face, that you do :D
In all seriousness .... congrats on a good day !!
Keep them pics coming, man .. keep 'em coming !!
... cp
Boy it's been tuff. These fish have either moved or got lock jaw. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out a pattern.
First I was catch'n big white females on the flats and then big blacks females. Just reverse of every other year. Then I was catching a mixed bag with a lot of black males in there. Then nothing! They just shut down or moved. You can usually count on several weeks of fish crusing the flats.
Water came up just a little and has warmed about 5 degrees since I got home a week and a half ago. Fishing sould be improving.
Seeing very few gulls in the bays. Not seeing much baitfish in the bays either. Never a good sign for spider rig'n. Only thing I can figure is they have cut back on running water at the dam. Less current in the lake. Fish pulling back out of the bays closer to deep water. We haven't been having warm days and cool nights. Been warm days and cold nights. May the drastic tip changes ave bump them back to the security of deeper water. I've cecked shallow too. Picked up a couple of small black males in 8'. Nothing to get excited about.
I had to change tactics yesterday. I moved out to about 14' of water and started jig'n brush. Mostly white females.
Gonna expand my search today with Jeramy. Hope I can get that boy on some fish.
... how's Jeramy's tacklebox looking these days ?? Is he in need of any more "contributions" ?? If/when he is .... hollar at me (PM) ;)
... cp
I caught mine on the flats Saturday in about 11 ft of water. I had more whites than blacks as well. I hit the same place yesterday and they just weren't there. Definitely odd.
The water down this way was 45.3 yesterday, about a degree warmer than Saturday.
Man he's got all kinda stuff and we're fix'n to try it out today! :D
I just bought a new depth finder for the front and I'm gonna give him my HB Matrix 87c with GPS to put on the front of his little boat.
He and his new sweety came over Sat. night for a birthday supper. We fondled some of his fish'n equipment that was contributed by the members and he's pumped up!
Man what a great group of people we have on here!
Today is his birthday (19). He's coming over after his class this morning and we are gonna go catch some crappie. He should be here around 10ish. I'll post some pictures tonight. He's gonna have a ball! I'll see to it! Pray for a good day for us. He deserves a day to remember.
Thanks for ask'n bout him CP.
Hope you and your son had a great trip Wiskers! I appreciate your posts...
I am heading up from GA and my Dad is coming in from MO to fish March 18,19,20. We are staying at Moors (its 1/2 way for both of us), so I think you are in the same vicinity that we will be fishing.
Since I only get to see my Dad a once or twice a year if I am lucky...I hope we can get on them! Please keep posting these reports!
