when i get out of work i will try to post a pic.. but come on!
i know some of you have some good pics to post
We can start a thread and we can put a sticky on it to keep it at the top. But I don't think you will see as many fish with the quality on this board that you see on the Ms board. They have some real monster slabs up in north Ms.
Here's ya one

Those are all some beautiful fishes!
Don't get me wrong, I'd rather lay into a dozen 1 1/2ers than one biggie, but it just doesn't happen like that much where I live. I wonder why the avg. size and weight fluctuates so much from such short distances. I've caught my biggest fish in impoundments where I know there's greater competition for food source........yet, when I fish a fertile river system all day and come up with 4 or 5 fish over 11", it just baffles me. Maybe it's just the fisherman..
And what is in Mississippi's water? Them feesh ain't eating like ours.....no way:D

Here's a few.

Now thats is a MUNSTER!!!!!!
Not many fish pics showing up due to slow periods and high water. So how about a thread showing pictures of your best trip ever. My best was Red River below Clarks in nannok lake just above lock & dam #5.

I can't count them all, but it looks like there are easily over fifty fish there. I would think it would be illegal for one person to catch that many crappie.
I'm assuming you weren't alone:eek:
Pastor
There were six people on that fishing trip. The 48 qt ice chest held 236 fish. If you divide that by six people I think it comes out to 39.3333333 fish per person. I think that is legal. We were fishing for a family get togather fish fry. Big family. We had a ball. Caught them from 7 oclock am til 11 oclock am (4 hours). We did have some felays left over from the meal tho. Figure that we were catching a fish ever 2 - 3 minutes. Ran out of minnows at 9 oclock and had to send one boat back to Clarks to get another pound.:):):):):):):)
Mine was a couple trips before Hurricane Rita hit us. Lacassine Refuge, August of 2005, 12-15fow, caught 18 inches deep all on hair jigs, waited half the day in 95* temps for them to turn on, and once they did, all the fish were caught in a couple hours.

You said 12-15 FOW and you caught them 18" deep.
It looks like some of those books I been reading are correct. They said that most of the fish are suspended over deep water in a shallow position. Most people pass them up on the way to the bank to fish.
Hey Deacon,
Your right. In the heat of the summer the sacs will suspend. I'll put my boat in the shade by the bank and cast to the suspended sacs.
Jig Rig
You cork fishing them or cast and reel?
I cast and reel most of the time. I'll count down and reel in. Most of this type of fishing I do is in the Atchafalaya Spillway. I some time use my Salter jigging pole to cast with and use my hand kinda like a fly rod. Mr. Salters can cast this way 60ft. with out raising the jigging pole more than a few feet. It's something to see.

Hey JL72
Boy when they turn on like that they will give them old arms a good work out. But don't you just love it. Gets the old heart pumping 90 to nothing.
dang ive never done that before WOW
This aren't my best, because we caught alot more when I was younger and we didn't take pics, but all these were caught in one week. I had a limit each day for 6 days by myself at Black Bayou out of Clarence.

Mo'nback
Have you fished Black Bayou lately. My brother had a camp on Black Bayou between Chivery dam and the bridge over the bayou. I know he use to tear them up down there. That was a nice mess.
I haven't fished it since Dec and didn't do any good. I've been about 3 or 4 times this winter and haven't caught a mess of fish any time. Kindof off this year for some reason.
