How do you hook your wax worms?
Since I fish hair jigs or other small jigs most all the time, I have a particular way of hooking them. I hook the worm just barely in the tip of the tail, then with a very slight tug, roll the worm at least 1/2 way round and then run the hook tip back through the worm. This seems to make them a bit secure on the hook.
If you get fish picking or nibbling at the bait , check your jig. If it has much of a tail, loose it. cut it off or at least short.
Sitting on the bank waiting for a nice one to come along only works for my wife. :D:D:D ole giller
Through the eyes
where can you get then and mealworms in bulk? or can you
... as far as hooking them -- I thread them on, bringing the hook point out the "head" end. I do the same for Mealworms. Don't use "maggies" :p
PBUG/olduckhunter .... check out Grubco | Welcome ... my friend Dale will take care of you ;)
Waxworms, Mealworms, Red Wigglers, & Nightcrawlers are sold locally (here in Ky) at many bait shops, & @ Wal-Marts. You just have to be careful, and always remember to open the container & check them out ;) .... they ain't always in the best of shape :o (esp @ WM's)
... cp
i just hook them through the body about 1/4 down from the head, they are my number one choice for tipping for bluegills in early spring, red wigglers would have to be the best for big yellow perch in winter and early spring best action on ultra ligth gear and #4 line
I have not bought any from them yet, but go to vados.com. they sell bulk baits and tell you how to care for them. I hook waxworms through the tail end and let them hang with the eyes roaming around like mad.
