I use the drill bits for either vinyl or outdoor high Gloss acrylic paint. On Roadrunner heads I mostly use the vinyl and most other heads I use the acrylic and clear coat over that. There is a few colors like FL Yellow I will not put Sally Henson's over and then I use clear vinyl. The nail polish changes the color of the FL Yellow and have to watch Chart too.
I think some use testers paint for eyes or may it is their jig heads, don't know since I have not used it before.

thanks guy's ....I know yall answer alot of questions over and over.
I can see the mess I'de make already before I get the paint out, lol.
Drill bits are the way to go. Welcome from Alabama.
If it's a light color jig head just use a black magic marker
I use Krylon's shortcut I think they're called. It's acrylic paint in a small
bottle, about 1 ounce. Also the drill bits.
I definitely think drill bits are the way to go. I buy a small can of paint from Lowe's for about $5 of either chartreuse or candy apple red, put it on and hang it on a rack for at least 24 hrs. Then I take a smaller drill bit and to dot the eye with black paint, hang for 24 hours. Then I put on a final coat of seal coat or epoxy. Hang for at 24 hrs. and then I'm done.
I'm usually doing a few hundred at a time to make it worthwhile.
I used to worry about the eyes, but not anymore! Went fishin' with a buddy and he was using "store bought" jig heads with no eyes and caught just as many if not more fish than me!
I think eyes on a jig catch more fishermen than they do fish!
i use cue tips and vinyal jig paint
GCD, I believe you're right. For me it's another step in making a good looking jig. I catch lots of fish on unpainted heads, one of your favorites. If we had more money than time, some of us wouldn't be tying jigs. We'd be loading the boat for tomorrow and fishing with store bought stuff. I just can't sit around watching the idiot box for too long, and winter really stinks. Keeps me busy and out of Mama's hair so I can get the almighty kitchen pass when the fish are bitin.
I'm with ya'll on this one, for my own use I don't paint any eyes, them jigs already know
where they're going. Some plastics already have eyes on em anyway. Heres a trick for you,
Sharpies work great for eyes and some detailing, some things I do before the cure, others
are a short 2nd cure. Stick-on eyes you can use the same format, just play with it to find
whats good for you. Then theres the dreaded dot, dot, dot and I to use drill bits or punches
for that also, sometimes I even use Q-tips. Try an experiment, eyes vs no eyes, I'll bet you
no eyes wins it over painted eyes. I think it's just a contrast thing.
WHy do some get these old thread that we done and gone in Feb this year and post on them to bring them bak to the front page?
I will close this thread so it will again peacefully go away. Please check dates on threads before bring them back to the top of the board and when one has been dead for 7 months, it needs no new life.
