Fisherman's Prayer
God grant that I may live to fish,
until my dying day,
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray,
When in the Lord's safe landing net,
I'm peacefully asleep,
That in his mercy I be judged,
As big enough to keep.
AMEN

Thats the news I was affraid of getting when I awoke this morning:( I can tell you this guys we lost a great one, Rusty was one of a kind and a friend to all. It didnt matter if he had known you all his life or for just 5 minutes he was a friend and always was willing to help. No doubt about it he is in a better place now, where the the crappie are always biting and the wind never blows. RIP my friend
Very sad news. We will keep the family in our prayers.
A true fisherman's friend who always had to time to listen, tell stories, and was always was there for the fishermen. He will truely be missed by all.

I liked visiting and talking to Rusty every time I visited talquin...Missed but not forgotten..
It will not be the same going there anymore. I looked forward to seeing and talking with Rusty more than the fishing. He was the Talquin experience to me. We all know Rusty would want us to continue fishing and appreciate any time we have with friends and family whether it be on the water or not. As Slabchaser stated, MISSED BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!
I'm sorry that haven't answered any PM's concerning Rusty, but I really dont know anything to tell yet. What I have heard is Rusty's funeral will be Tuesday in Brindidge, AL and there may be a memorial service at the lake at a later date. Chuck Auten will post all definite arrangements when they are made. As these posts have stated, Rusty has many friends and he will be missed by all for years to come.
With a heavy heart, we are deeply saddened to hear Rusty has passed on, but heaven is home and we all are just visitors here on this earth.. I think that Rusty thoughly enjoyed spending his time at Lake Talquin Lodge helping others and he truly loved fisherman and fishing period, he will be greatly missed. Tony
What sad news. I will keep Rustys family and friends in my prayers. Didn't know Rusty as well as some of yall, but the few times I've stayed at LTL he was a supper nice fella. Rusty will be missed for sure.
Guys if and when the serviceis held at the lake would someone please let me know? I feel I owe it to him to be there. Also what do yall think about sending an arrangement to the family? Just a thought, and I will send one either way but I thought since there are several of us on here who trade there often and consider Pat and Rust friends maybe we could do something for them. Any thoughts?
Sorry to hear Rusty passed.I met him on a couple of occasions and stayed there some as well.Nice man for sure.
I will pray for his family to have peace.
Rusty and Pat are 2 of the Best People you could ever have the pleasure of meeting. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Lake Talquin will never be the same without him!
