Just go ahead and get ya a trollin plate for yo motor and be done with it. My boat wouldnt get below 2.5 till I got mine , now I have to give her a little gas to get to 1.5- 1.8. Really worth it and dont have to worry about loosin it.
This is the one I have -Trol-A-Matic Trolling Plate. It takes the worry out of having to raise and lower it every time. EBAY has em right now .As well as Cabellas-http://www.cabelas.com/p-0000915012282a.shtml

These work pretty good. The one in the back is bad expensive though and the two up front ain't what you call cheap neither.

If the sock is what you want....go to bass pro internet site under there clearance items .....the one i bought last spring was like $90 then and they have on clearance for like $45 dollars now....saw it on there yesterday
I have good luck with the sea anchors. One of them is adjustable. Can open it more to adjust the "drag". Have never lost one yet and have been using 'em about 5 years. Use one on the 20' Tracker but use them both on the 28' TriToon.
