my color was not listed. i only use bright red. it probably doesnt matter but i know that they work for me. i have tried other colors and they will catch fish but i have not found any that do any better for me. when all falls if you put on a red head you willcatch more fish. but thats jst my opinion.
Chartreuse
mine is not listed either. It is a chart. with a little green on it and red hook.
mine was not listed either. i prefer whatever color combo is catching the most fishes :-)
I don't use to many colored jig heads, except for fishing for Walleye I use red. Colored jig heads never really helped me on crappie, maybe thats why I have not caught a three pounder yet.
I also like the red jig heads. Followed closely by Chartruse.
I have had better luck with red also. Don't know why but it works.
I used to make all different colors until i met this old timer who never painted his heads, I watched this old guy pull in 6,7 and 8 lb walleyes on a regular basis and noticed he had just plain old lead heads with no paint. i asked him why he did not paint his heads? He said the tail is more important than the head since that is where all the action is. I have never painted a head since. I do put on red glass eyes though. something i believe about a bleeding eye attracting fish. Well, what ever you believe in will work.
I Use To Not Think Much About Color Of A Jig Head However After Barndog (Rick)flat Whooped On Me With A Purple Looking Thing There May Be Something To It,,,
ive heard somthing like that, i have "camo" mr crappie line and it is red and green kinda striped patches
I choose black because there are some situations where a painted head is better than a non-painted head. I've seen where it made little difference whether it was painted or not.
I feel the color of a painted head may be important with the size and type of jig. For example, a yellow marabou feather jig may work best with a white head. Since one of my favorite tube jigs is black and chartreuse, a painted black head seems to work best. Perhaps, that is because the black is already the head of the tube jig.
Anyway, I feel the color of the jig head may depend more on the jig/etc you are wanting to fish.
ineteresting.....I'll have to try orange with ?? jig.
My dad swears by orange, it looks good with chartreuse, white, and black. That is looks good to me, I dont know what the fish think about it. I painted up some orange ones last night. I've got some leftover dark green touchup paint for my truck, I'm using that for the eyes...It looks almost black on the little eyes, but it has some sparkle so i figured it couldnt hurt.
orange, green, yellow, black, red, and white but mostly orange
I wonder if fish thinks orange are fish eggs? any theories on the color of orange?
as long as they like it go for it.
Orange shows up well in stained/muddy conditions,i guess thats why it works so well for beagle in those muddy southern Mo lakes;)
beagle,do you remember our trip on loz where orange/white was so good in that late winter clear water?
Sometimes the whole color thing works like its supposed to but then theres times where its totally backwards of what you think it should be,i experiment every trip until i get it down to what they want that particular day.
No Muddy Water In Stockton Buggs. Years Ago White Was The Color Now Orange Works. Takes Awhile To Find Out What They Want.
oh yea buggs I remember only time I ever got two fish ahead of you. ole double ugly I think, remember you saying what color you using, and the catching began, ah good times, and the time I had to ride home in wet clothes, I dont thing I ever got that wet with a rain suit on. dang got to get off my lazy butt and get up there, just to see what I will break, loose, fall over. or eat
Chartreuse all the way.
Chartreuse but at givin times they might all work
I will use whatever will work, but seem to always start with red, so that must be my favorite!
Whatever Monty tells me to use:)
Hope you don't mind a La. boy chiming in. I mostly use pink heads. When not using pink I use orange. Most times the pink out fishes the orange even when using the same jig bodies. Never used to use painted head and one day when I couldn't get a bite I watched 2 guys fishing pink head tear the slabs up. I was using the same jig so that didn't seem to be the problem....
I like chartreuse the best , although I have caught a bunch of crappie using pink heads with a white grub.
I voted Chartreuse but actually I use RED most of the time. These two colors are what I use 90% of the time. Always going to try something else but you know how that goes!
Gotta go with orange first, then black.
Chartreuse, orange, black, pink, in that order.
charteruse baby
orange...
Why isn't "blonde" on your list? I've always been partial to blonde heads.
I voted white but change body colors more than jig head colors. Orange seems to work also. (Heck they all work sometimes) I keep using them even when all the paint chips off.
I vote for blonde also.
i like the Chart. but have never used Red... i will have to give that one a try.
My new go to color is Ruby Slipper. It is a dark red with lots of lighter or brighter colored red glitter in it. This is not he greatest picture of it but may get the idea. My number one seller on my tied jigs has been Orange by a long shot. So I may need to use it a little more than I have in the past but I sure did well with this Ruby Slipper this last year.

great looking jig jared! making me hungry:D i'm also a fan of orange, BLAZE orange, like you wear hunting!
Ya that blaze orange or hot orange is my best seller by far. I never used it much but I have people wanting it with all sorts of differant body and tail color combos. Some will order 100 jigs and all be orange head but may have 10 differant body and tail combos. So it has to work or at least for some people.
Do a lot of experimenting and think I have some preferences depending on water clarity, sunlight penetration, fishing pressure, etc. but unless I've got confidence in it might as well be fishing with dough balls.
Chart Mo glo is my favorite color.
