Underwater lights

I'm not a night time crappie catcher b/c of blood sucking and biting bugs and think the underwater light would draw in less blood suckers.

I think making a underwater light would be fairly simple.
A glass tube/plastic,cork or rubber stopper,LED light and wire.
Drill a hole in one of the corks or rubber stoppers for the wire going to the LED and seal all points.
Why would this not work?

I even thought once about putting a light in a gallon glass jar until my pea brain said want be enough room for a light b/c of all the rocks it would take to sink it lol.

It should work. The underwater wmart green lights draw millions of bait fish and use very little power. Will catch plenty of crappie if you are where they are.:)

Regular 12 volt bulb in a light should fit a quart jar.:confused:

I have built 4'ers and 2'ers using 2" clear PVC pipe 12 volt ballast and a 2 or 4 foot fluorescent bulb. If you are ever over towards Batesville give me a shout.

Where do you get the clear PVC?

Sounds like fun to make your own, but you can buy them for about 20 bucks! I'm too lazy to go to all the trouble for that amount.

The ones I make are the ones that cost 150-175 dollars if you buy them

I didn't realize you could buy them so cheap,the ones I've seen runs a Franklin or two and a few Jacksons.

If you build your own just think at all the colors LED lights have to offer.Blue,green,orange and what about pink,maybe even red,who knows what wild color bait fish will go crazy over from night to night.Cabin fever huh......

I have sold some 4'ers for 125.00 and 2'ers for 90.00. Have not made one in a couple of years.

I thought they were higher then 20 bucks....
I also think bait fish would respond to different color lights on different nights as to its darkness,moon light,weather,ect.ect..The same way crappie respond to different jig colors on different days and weather,ect..I haven't night fished in years and really don't plan on any soon but if I did.I would play around with a few colors other then white and green.Light draws in bait which usually is minners,crappie may or may not be eating minners that night.What if red,orange,blue or another color would draw in bait other then minners.Alot of different type baits hatch and either craw or swim though the water colunm at night.

Fishing Lights and Dock Lights

I like using Church Tackle's Bead Chain Spotlight. They are small LED lights that you put right above your lure or bait and man do the crappie love them. I like them because they only cost around $7 each and I can get replacement batteires too. I think having the light where you want the fish to bite makes all the difference. How thats what I call being mean to minners and jigs,putting them in a spot light for everything to seeeee.Not giving them a chance to hide in the group its murder lol ,best thing I've seen since light bread.Heck I may get into night fishing with something like that,I think thats neat as all getout.That looks as dangous as someone holding a spotlight on you out in the middle of bear woods.No matter how fast you ran and tried to get away it would only make matters worse b/c you in the spotlight for eveything to see.It looks deadly to any type fish,know wonder you like them lol.

Im not sure if you are talking about a large light or just a light.
But i found something at the Midsouth boat show last year called the " Crappie Candle"
It attaches to your line above the last hook and it works very well. has a life time warranty.

Years ago, I bought a Crappielight. It is a round head light in a styrofoam bekin. Attach the leads to your battery and it is on. Has anybody used the "Secret Weapon?" The green light about 4' long? Thanks

The Secret Weapon is 4' Flourscent light bulb that cost close to $200.00
