I just started tying flies and jigs last year and happened upon this rubber band pattern that turned out pretty cool. I can't wait to try them on the gills dropshot style or under a bobber with a sinker.

Look great. Fishing them as a dropper will likely produce a ton more fish. I have been tying up some small stuff lately for this reason as well getting ready for spring. They look like feather quill bodies, is that right?
The body is made of a rubber band and some of the heads are dubbing and one is hackle, or at least I think that is what they call it.Quote:

Gotcha, I have seen a pattern like this with the rubber band before and I haven't gotten around to tying it. Looking at your pictures of them though they definitely look like they would be worth tying!Quote:

Very nice,the way the body is segmented reminds me of a waxworm or meal worm.It has possibilities tied on a small jighead,a 1/64 or smaller.

Just go easy when you first tie the rubber band to the hook, use a soft pinch of thread till you have it attached then reinforce. The thread if tied in too tight can cut right through.
It is a great pattern though and with all the colors of rubber bands the possiblitities are endless.

Thanks, but I actually found the idea on the web somewhere. I tied several, some are on Daiichi curved #10, Mustad caddis offset #8, and some larger ones on Eagle Claw Aberdeen #6 that I bent into a slight curve shape.Quote:

Try tying the same pattern with strips from a clear latex nursing glove. It will really look like a maggot then. Good job.
Caddis fly emerger patterns, very effective for trout here. Even work on steelhead.
The bottom two work well here for anything but crappie and gills. I think if I could actually catch crappie and gills it might make a difference.

Rubber bands, elastic, celephane, fishing line, wire, twine, larva lace, craft lace, boondogle, bead lace, jelly cord and probably 100 other things to make those ribs. And yes, you start the wrap from the bottm after tying in the material from either the top or just above where you want the wraps to start.

I tied a few pretty easy to make. Took them to work to show to some guys who fish for Gills, most seem to like them. Rubber bands deteriorate after a while so you can't make a whole bunch at once, one of my buddies asked if you could coat them with a finish or would that eat away at the rubber band?
