Hello everybody
Hey everyone, I am brand new to this site and am having the time of my life reading everything everyone has written here so far.
Here's the deal. I am an "olddude" in W. Arkansas that loves to fish. I have been trying to catch mainly bass but have gotten pretty frustrated at it. I am not going to quit but would like to catch a fish every once in awhile. I have read that crappie are somewhat easy to catch and one can catch alot of them if in the right place at the right time. I have been surfing the net trying to get all of the info I can on catching fish and am really, really anxious to get out on the water and give it a try.
I have a 14' jonboat with a 5 hp motor that I fish out of. I use cheap rod and reels from Walmart because being retired I don't have any money to spend on higher quality gear. I buy a few lures as I am able to afford to. Now, I have caught a few fish, and I emphasize "few", and enjoy just being on the water. I hope to be able to post some pics of some catches in the future but in the meantime I will be here getting tips from you all. Hope you don't mind. Thanks for the tips I already have and hope everyone will catch a bunch of fish everytime you get the chance.

Welcome to the sight but you better be careful lots of bass fishermen have fallen prey to the crappie bump and had to trade all those bass baits for jigs this comes from a former bass fisherman.

Welcome, you should'nt need high dollar equipment to catch plenty of fish. Helps to have the know how to use what you have. Where do you fish?

Welcome from a transplanted Arkie now in Virginia! You need to hook up with some of the Arkansas C.C'ers and ride along, see how it's done. Lot quicker and more fun than trial and error!

Thanks for all of the welcomes. It is going to be a pleasure.
I live in Van Buren. I mainly fish on Lake Dardenelle either from the state park at Russellville or from Shoal Bay. I also go to Lake Ft. Smith north of Mountainburg quite often. Lee Creek Reservoir out of Van Buren and also below the Lee Creek dam to the Arkansas River. I do not get out on the river because my boat is way too small for that. I have not fished from any of the other places mentioned on this site, which is what I look forward to doing since Arkansas has so many fishing holes.
Looking for some warmer weather to come through so I can get out there and see what I can do.

Welcome from Charleston! Have fished most of them places! Lee has some nice crappie in it. Also try Clear Creek near you.... great crappie fishing and bass later. Perfect for your boat setup!
