nm\Now, what all you see in any of these pics? I put in at Pelahatchie shore, then went to the dam and the water intake, then to roses bluss and finally to a stump field out in teh middle of the lake
I am not sure what I am looking at but it does look good, Lol. I guess you got to use one awhile and get used to what you are seeing. I think I saw a bunch of fish in one of the pics...but thats just a guess as I don't know.
Way to go DonDon. You're learning.:D
Ditto....and Ditto , G3's comments.....the pictures look good though.....my eye just needs some training..........
can you put some circles where the fish are ??
thanks for the pics..........
nice,DonDon me and you need to go "ride" when I get home in March, I got some places I would love to see :)
Your right about the amber screen...it does look a lot better than the blue...lot more detail shows up. Now...if I just knew what it was, Lol.
What chart speed are you using on the si?
what is the very big hump thing on the very top picture on the left..is that a dropoff?
It would have been nice if you had of told us what we were looking at in each picture. Or do you even know yet?
You mean we have to have a reason for silliness now? Thats not gonna be any fun! :p
see there DD, now you see why I put a description on each one of the scrennshots I put on here. I think I like the amber on yours too, I know I do on my Lowrance.
I think I hurt the ole boys feelings friday when I had the other sig up about "SAVE A FESH, TAKE WANNABE FESHING" So I put this one up to make him feel better. LOL
Oh, Jeep, it's set at factory settings
1st pic (Blue one) is the wall at the intake to the spillway as I passed by it, right in front of the control tower
2nd pic is at the water intake (aquaduct) for the city of jackson water supply. you can see the concrete wall on the structure on the right view
3rd is around the same site but I found a drop off and what I THINK is some big fish, maybe catfish but I was going SLOW so who knows
4th pic is at the same location and it's the trees that are along the edges of the pilings that someone put in there. If you've ever fished it, you know where those trees are
Next set of pics
1st I was over by roses bluff, coming from the yacht club and it's the rivers edge with shat looks like a tree in the down view, not sure what that is on the right SI view though but at the rivers edge it appears to be a good bit of baitfish
2nd this was down closed to the NTP along roses bluff, Is this ALL baitfish? WOWWW if it is
3rd pic This is the Old NTP thats in the lake on the far left of the screen and I THINK the box looking thing is a catfish box that someone built for Hand grabbing?
4th pic is over near Twin Harbor, there's a stump field out in front of it so what I'm seeing is a bunch of stumps
Next set
1st NO idea but it looked kewl. LOL
2nd pic does anyone know where those 2 BIG STUMPS are as you start getting to the channel markers coming from the lake heading up the lake, near the JSU weather station? That's one of those stumps and I was maybe 3 feet from it
3rd pic is from over by the Pelahatchie causeway and appears to me to be slam full of bait fish and then a few BIG FISH stacked on top on each other. My guess anyways but could it be a christmas tree anyone?
Last pic is I DON'T KNOW. LOL seriously though, I had it on and I was dead still, just looked kewl
Anyone else got any opinions on any of these? I'm just guessing is all on the fesh
I would say these are fish.
School of fish under bait. The arrow is the school of fish and circle is bait that has balled up in protect mode.
but this is new to me and I'll be darned if I can figger it all out YET. LOL That was over near the deep hole on the lake side of Pelahatchie causeway, bout 100 yeards North of the Bridge
I would mark and fish this spot.
pulling cranks at. I was thinking that was fish but wasn't sure. thanks bud
My interpretations:
I'm not sure why you have one speed posted at the top and another lower at the bottom, but if you're actual speed was 5.3, that's way too fast for a clear pic. The circle on the DI left side, I don't think that's bait fish. It's too loose, but the individual dots are too uniform. If this was summer, I'd say bubbles from decomposition, but regardless, I don't think it's bait because it's spread loosely from 35 up to 10' deep. Big spread.
On the right, I think the lines are fish. Hard to say due to speed, but they are a hard return, but may be elongated due to speed. Overall, I'd move on to more productive water.

More of my wisdom:
Again with the speed thingy. What's up with that. You need to be no more than 3.5 tops.
Nothing really to interpret here, except the nice drop with what looks to be structure on the first drop. maybe even some fish on it.
Did notice the square on the right. Looks to me to be an old foundation and home place since the SI is set to 150, I interpret that box to have about 20' sides. If it was a house foundation, they must have been po folk. Or maybe they was rich folk and that was the dog house.

My best for last:
Congratulations, you've found a tree top.
Again the speed thing. Can you say trolling plate? I knew you could.
Lot of turbulence similar to the first pic, but the grouping of the returns around the tree make me think it's bait. Note the irregular size of the return....this is not because you got big and little shad, but the bait overlaps each other causing the returns to look bigger than some around it.
On the right, again, wide spread returns like the first pic, but mixed in all over the place is harder returns and what appears to me to possiby be fish spread all around. I marked some with the lines. There's a bunch more there though. Of all your pics, this one looks the most promissing for fishing. Odd too, cause you're in what appears to be a a gentle slope going from maybe 0' on the left out to maybe 20 on the left. You'd think this time of year, it'd look better deeper or at least close to real deep water. Then again, we're talking almost 50 degree water, so I'd be awful tempted to give this spot a try for a while at least.

'Da Swammie has spoken.
I would bring the range in to no more than 75 feet on both sides. Just my opinion but it is very hard to interpret what you are looking at with the range at 150. Keep speed between 3.5 and 5 mph.
I usually search on 75 feet then if I see something interesting make a second pass at 30 feet range.
If you will do this you will find that some (not all) of the crappie in the school will be kind of football shaped and not really bright, kind of gray. Aggressive fish will be in schools and you will see 8 or better in a school. If they are not bunched up they are going to be tough to catch.
I did notice that on mine also, so the most I ranged out to the other day was 30. Seemed like you get the best results when you set your range about 10-20 feet more than your depth
Hey that is likely a tree. Took a closer look and here is why I changed my mind.
See the green circle where the sonar was completely blocked? Fish don't do that. Also green arrows show it from both sides in the water column and that is suspect also. But all that said there is no way I would not drop a jig down by this tree with the arches around it and fish in the area.
but it's the lower one that is the true one. I had it on idle and was moving from 2.8 when I was going into the wind to about 3.7 going with the wind. I have everything set to factory defaults except I did turn the sharpen image ON and played with the colors on the screen. It has 2 Ambers and I like the amber2 the best, just can see more detail. I did play with the offset distance abit. If you'll notice that the one that you call a tree WB has 102 right and left were all the rest had 150. I figured that being the same screen width that it I only had it half the distance, the image would have a zoom look to it and everything would be bigger. First trip out so it was just a look around morning for us. Wife and I had fun and goofed off for awhile was all. Got on the water about 7:30 and were back off about 10 or 10:30. Now I got to figger out how to mark way points in the Side views. Say I see a school of baitfish 50 foot off to one wide, I want to mark it and go fish it. Gotta do some more reading I recon
Marking waypoints from the side view will be simple. Hit the 4 way directional key and screen will freeze. Then use the directional arrows to position the cursor over the target school of fish and press mark key. Then press exit to starting side imaging again.
up cause I tried hitting the buttom and it just beeped at me. LOL OOPS
When it beeps, that means it loves you.

DonDon, which map card did you buy?
They way CH68 said is right. Just move your cursor with the 4-way arrow button to the desired object and then hit mark. It will tell you it is saving image and when it's done then you hit exit and youre back to where you started with the exception of seeing the water you missed while marking the spot. It will also tell you how far from the boat your cursor is. Jsut play with it (the FF:D) and it'll get easier.
Minnerman I am sure glad you explained what he was supposed to be playing with, you know how he is
it's the 2008 year but it still has the rez along with Sardis, Enid and Grenada I THINK in the high detail map. I GOTS to play with something while I'm out there. We woulda stayed longer and checked a few more things but as the clouds were breaking off, the winds was picking up as well. We didn't want to fight the wind so we went on to the house. I'll have to get outside and plug it in to just play with it and see what buttons, do what
or so he keeps telling us. He's Busted right now bigtime. Wannabe, you mentioned 3 or 4 times about my SPEED and got on me about going to fast. Ya big Dummy, that speed you said was to high is my AVERAGE SPEED for the route. Now go put yoself in the corner and Whak yo own PP hehe
