huh? in a plano crankbait box, is there another way?
I store mine in Plano handi boxes and then store the boxes in bags.
Thanks G-3, just got my first 15 bandits in today. Know I need to have a way to keep them on the boat.
Here is what I use. Bass Pro Shops XPS Double Sided Tangle-Free Crankbait Organizer
I have a couple of these boxes that I use for cranks, there are three removeable trays, a flip top that is great for swivels or weights and the top opens up for all kinds of storage and tools.

put 2 or 3 of the same colors in each little seperate area. I'm still wayyy behind most of you guys as far as sheer number though.
Im like DD...would love to come up to that number one day. But, here's my question.....as far as where to buy um I know you can pick up stuff outta the sales bin at several places, do you all just look and pick up anything on sale or is it specific to certain brands. I'd seen in the past its been Bandit-Bandit and Bandit. If it is limited to a certain brand, think I may need to figure out what to sell first arms, legs or both...
At Bass pro, I pick up the Wally's. They actually have some good colors, they run pretty true and they are a buck each cheaper than the bandits. Norman also puts out some of the smaller cranks in a few decent colors. Don't forget that you can use more than just cranks on them though. I have a couple Rapala broken backs that have a big lip on them that are for 8-12 foot and have caught fish on them as well. Big thing is the depth they run at, colors and do they run true
You people are way too organized....and before somebody jumps my case...my presentation was delayed again till later today.
Actually, I use plano 3600s and slap 5 or 6 in a milk crate that I keep in my boat most of the time. Kind of handy not to have to go in and out of the storage boxes all the time. And the crate keeps them from sliding around and being a tripping hazzard. I kind of like Slab's idea though, but those boxes are fairly high new at over $40 each.
C Hunter 68 - Bandits speak the universal lanquage of "eat me" to Crappie all over the South and I'm sure in the North too. That being said, there are others that I run sometimes and still others that others run and swear by. Here's a list of what also works sometimes for me:
Norman DLNs
Bomber Fat Free Fingerlings
Storm Wild Eye Shad Swimbaits
Some off brand 2" bargain bin specials.
I keep looking at Cabela's grave diggers as well. Currently on sale at $2 each. The deep size runs 10 to 14 is 2" long and there are 3 colors I'm itching to try - Vegas Lights, Olive Shiner and Bombay & Lime. I'd bet those would work pretty well.
Also, Wally Marshalls are said to work well also.
It's not that Bandits are way better than others, it's jus that they're widely available, good colors, right size and depth and they're proven to work. Basically, you can't go wrong with them. The others are somewhat different - bigger, different depth, different wiggle, louder or quieter. At times they'll outfish Bandits, but others the fish won't touch them. Day in and Day out, Bandits will perform...the others, for me, are hit and miss.
If you're trying to build your arsenal, check the bass boards used tackle. A lot of times you can pick up small lots at about $3 each. Also, Bandit.com has some on clearance right now at 2.99, which is pretty decent. Or here's a source for $3.99 everyday price.
Bandit Series 300 Crankbait
You can filll out the numbers with the used and clearance shopping, but for the premium colors, you'll prolly have to cough up $4 each. Not much of a way around it unless you catch a great deal with patience.

I've got a couple of SMALL ones in my box. I don't know how far to put them back for certain depths so I put them on my down rods up front
And before you jump on me about hi-jacking your thread G-3, Slabo started it so whack his pp first.

Ya beat me too it Creek....the XPS crank bait double sided boxes are the nuts!!!! Cannot beat them!
Good one WB but actually most all of those baits were bought on ebay over the past three years. Some guy had a shop he was selling out and was selling baits in lots of six of the same pattern for $18 buy it now and I just happened to stumble across it just after he posted them and bought several.
LOL G-3 LOL. I ain't sure I'd of tolt that on myself, but LOL.
'Ats right Slabo, careful who you poke around here, you just might draw back a nub.
Yeah, I had heard through the grapevine you'd had a little hookup for a while. Pretty easy to see from your pics which are your favorite colors too. I kind of regret selling off all those bandits I bought up last year. Once you get into it, it's kind of like crack. Just can't have enough of 'em. I think I had an average of something like $2.10 in all of 'em. Oh well.

If you go back to the other post and read I said I have two of these boxes of cranks and youre only getting to see one of them. So do really think I showed you all my go to baits......HaHa
Oh I get it....pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Bubbles??.... OHHHH BWAHAHAHA!! WB that looks like some crap you'd find at a swap meet in South Memphis. What's up?
Slabo I really like your color selection. Have the solid olive greens worked out very well for you?
Took me a sec to figger out what you was talking about but when I did, I spewed my coffee all over the place. Wasn't Bubbles Michael Jackson Chimp?

Are you Crazy? Do you know how many Plano 3700 boxes you can buy for 70 bucks.
Attachment 187514Looks like this would make a nice crankbait box?
A few things have improved since this post was first put on here in 2010 and these crank bait boxes are a great improvement no more tangled hooks and it is very easy to locate that perfect color !!!!

Do you know how much all of those plano boxes take up? Did you know that the plastic on products like that gets brittle and breaks after a couple cold mid-west winters. Did you know notice that lets say 5-yrs from now you need another Crank Box, and low and behold you cant find the same ones unless you find a used one online. Trust me, I've seen and used practically all of them, price aside its the best thing available on the market. Thanks for your support. Oh, and lets not forget to mention the fact that, like the best fisherman... Made in the USA!
G, them crank baits look like there going on vacation with that suitcase, you might have to pull a dinghy behind your boat so you have room in yours.
