Bought a 787Ci and a MK PowerDrive 80 with AP/US/CP. Got a map chip for the H'bird and installed the CP on PD. Finished the install of it all this past Sunday and tried it out on my boat ride Monday at Sardis.
Review: 787 - front mounted, US transducer.......well the map chip is a dream. The GPS I didn't care for though because under a certain speed (something like .5 mph) the boat icon turns to a circle with no directional indicator of travel. Over .5 and you get a boat icon with an arrow. Liked that. FF performance.....well, it is what it is....hate the color scheme, but understand the update will give me Lowrance like schemes which I should like. Sure do miss having 5" of GPS beside 5" of FF though. May have to correct that down the line.
MK - like it alot more than I thought I would actually - with the remote. The foot pedal flat out serrrkkkkksss egggs. Basically not useable. The AP worked well although at low and high speed it would lose direction and search. Moderate speeds it was great. One sucky thing is that you have to turn it on and off at the head so if it looses direction, you would have to go up front and turn it off. Variable speed worked perfectly. Low speed of .2 mph and high speed of 2.8. Assuming the batts will hold up, I think it's gonna be the cats meow for pulling cranks with the boys. Surprisingly, the stow and deploy was not as much of a pain as I had read it would be though. Gonna run it this year and see how it really does for cranks and if I like it, rob one of our competitors and go buy a Terrova with Ipilot.

Hey which map chip did you buy? I have got to purchase one and have heard there is a new kid on the block competing with Navonics.
A'ite den.
Out with the old.

And in with da new.
The chip is a Navionics Hot Maps Premium South 2008. I can't imagine anyone needing any more detail than there is on that card. Almost too much detail really. Understand the new software upgrade will support Lakemaster chips as well, but I don't need any more than the chip I got.

Too many loose wire fer my liking.
in the last pic. It's kinda center bottom on the pic. NEVERMIND, I REALLYYY don't wanna know. YUCK
All of that loose wire is from the foot control pad. Dang thang is 20 foot long. Tried it, hated it. Gonna store it. The plug is one of those 3 prong 24V jobs available at Wal-Mart. I rigged 2 wires at 24V rather than a 3 wire run at 12V on the two carriers. That why there's a lot of tape wrapping the male end of the plug. I folded the 3rd wire over and taped it up to preserve the 3rd wire in case I wanted to re-do it at some point. Doesn't look great, but has the added benefit of something more substantial to hold on to when plugging and unplugging. Dern twist locks are outrageously priced.
