Question for Welders and Officers of the Law

As some of you know PW58 and I purchased Beaglemans and Miss Sharons RV trailer.

Ok I am pulling it with a F-250 Super Cab Long Bed. RV trailer is bumper hitch 27 foot tag says trailer weighs 5000. I already run 24,000 BL tags because of cattle trailer and flat bed gooseneck. Trailer pulled great over 1500 miles from before Thanksgiving to January 2 with the V-10 under the hood. Granted 6.1 miles to gallon wasn't good but when your in the showoff lane hammer down what do you expect.

My questions:

How hard would it be to attach a hitch to the back of the RV trailer for my 175 Lowes boat?

Should I check with MO Highway Patrol office here in Springfield due to length? I think I am about 31 feet long now with RV.

I know I am asking for trouble with the added length! But I already have the big over sized Ford mirrors. And I hate the idea of driving more than one unit to Bucksaw for a just few days of fishing. And I am used to pulling over sized loads with either a pickup or a 18 wheeler.

Should be no problem if ya gets a good welder to attach it. Torch and I go on a lot of Crappie masters Tourneys and we pull his 32 footer and the tracker 17.5 behond his chevy 1500 HD.

we go to mo about twice a year mo law state you can triple tow if the maximum combined length for two- or three- vehicle combination is not over 65 ft. what i like to know my rig is close to 70 ft wonder if i can git by without giting a big fat ticket.john

one thing to keep inmind is every states laws read differently so you really should check your states laws , and to be technical about it when towing in other states you are responsible to check those states laws before crossing that state line,

as to your question about length, I am not up to date on the laws pertaining to that since I dont usually run into that situation, usually to busy doing other things than traffic enforcement:eek:

but yes you can contact the highway patrol, i would get ahold of one of the commercial inspection guys, can be found at the weigh scales, thats all those guys deal with and are very knowledgable about it.

dan at crappie camp LOZ 2006 a man from utah came through with a big fifth wheel and boat, 56 ft. or longer, he stated he never once got hasseled, now you on the other hand will probably get busted the first 50 miles, see like johnlaw said the police wont bother you if you are driving decent, SAFE,and respectfull of other traffic, and by your own admission you are not any of the above, best get a motel room. just sayin

In the past, I've pulled the camper the first trip of the season and he towed the boat. Now the camper has a full-time home (at least until the lease runs out) and no worries. I can tow my own boat with my Ford.

Have Paula tow the boat, you tow the RV and you're done.

OR, just have Paula tow it all and you stay home!:)

LOL How do you people think I am able to eat fish? Sure ain't by my luck! I already get enough trouble from the guy 2 doors down who comes and inspects both livewells after each fishing trip.

But hey she can't operate the trolling motor and she isn't the one who finds the locations!

Thanks, I was going to call up here at Troup D not to far from the house and get some ideas. I used to love dealing with those commercial inspection guys and gals.:eek::eek:

Just talked with the boys up here at Troup D and as long as I am not over the 65 feet mark I can pull all three. And they measure from the tip of the front bumper to the end of the prop hanging off the motor on the end of the boat. I don't think I can pull it off.

what three are you pulling, 1 trailer,2boat,3? I say get the measure tape out and check it out then you will know.

I was planning on pulling the RV trailer and the boat at the same time. It won't be hard to measure the next time I hook up to the RV the boat is parked right behind the RV.

I think I am too long by about 5 feet or more. Figure the RV trailer is listed at 27 feet and the boat is a 175 or 17.5 feet without the trailer. I drive a super cab pickup with a long bed so that is about 24 feet. Thats why most people who have a super cab pickup have a short bed. I personally like the ride of the longer unit. Granted with a trailer it is harder to get around. But as you know Mr Beagle I normally pull goosenecks. LOL some used to say I could back a gooseneck trailer in holes that most people couldn't drive them thru.

in arizona, he law here is, the first trailor has to be a fifth wheel, and of course the boat can be bumper pull, and not to exceed 70 feet

Well my first trailer the RV is a bumper pull. And the law states not to exceed 65 feet. Really if they wanted to here in Missouri they could give tickets to out of staters. I see people all the time pulling long RV trailers plus boats as large as mine. But I would hate to think what would happen to them if there was ever a wreck.

As far as Kansas, Look at Kansas Statue 8-1904 for length of vehicles and 8-1907 for towing vehicles. Notice what it says about brakes on the 2nd towed vehicle.

I have good brakes on both the RV trailer and also the boat trailer. Granted I only have a 175 Lowes Boat with a 50 HP motor on it but I sure like having brakes on the trailer!
