Gill Getter Jig Swap
Tyers to be limited to 5 including myself.
Jigs to be no bigger than 1/32 oz.
No restrictions on materials other than must be hand tied.
Jigs to be in my possession by 28 Feb 2010
Each tyer to tie 2 different jigs 4 of each type.
Figured I would conduct a small swap to see if I wanted to Swapmeister a regular sized one. You can tie anything you feel a BROPHY ( trophy bluegill ) might go gaga over. Either a pattern you know works or one you think should work. By each tyer doing 2 different jigs hope to get the creative juices flowing.
Let the sign up begin.

Ok slight change in plans going to add 1 extra. I hate to tell anybody no. So here is the line up. Just means we have to tie 10 jigs instead of 8.

Sign up is now closed. In a week I will PM the tyers with my mailing addy. I will also include packing instructions. You old vets probably already know what to do. I fumbled my first swap and Attica fish covered for me. Thanks for your interest guys. Will post pics of the two patterns I'm tying.

Have fun guys.I want to see pictures.

Direction I ma going
http://i962.photobucket.com/albums/a...9/DSC00200.jpg
This will be the general direction I will be going with. FF will probably reconize his plated heads.
Have not picked a finalist two yet but these might be canidates. Still spearminting though.
That pill in the middle is a low dose aspirin. For you old bucks like me that ought to give you a real good idea on size. Jig heads are 1/100 oz. and 1/80 oz

-
have fun guys sorry missed out on this one.
-
I can hardly see the aspirin, let alone tie them little biddy things, lol.I'll have to go 1/32.

Tale of woo
I had 5 orders to finish today, so I thought I would also get the jigs done for the swap. Had all done when wife came out to shop to see what I was tying. On the bench were 5 of the jig that are color combo that I normally tie for just her, but I thought I would enclude them in this sawp. She snatched them off the bench and asked who these were for, and like a fool I had to tell her. Now after 31 year of marriage you would think I would have known better, but any way, she let me know that "she was the only one that was going to get these and that they were now hers!" As she left the shop she also said if I wanted to touch anything of "hers" again I would abide by her wishes. Well you folks will now be getting 2 jigs that I use and what wife likes will be staying at home:D. Both are 1/32 ounce and proven patterns. Hope you like them.:)
-
Finished three rod repairs today and started on the jigs. Half of them
are done, tied on a hundred ounce jighead. The other pattern I'm still
thinking about. Maybe a bug of some sort! I know BG's love bugs.
Still thinking.......................................... ................
-
Ok,half way done. 1/64 oz. is finished, the rest will be 1/32.Don't get "spooled" with these little guys, has been known to happen, lol.
-
Got mine done today. 1/100 oz and 1/80 oz. Will post pix tommorow . Went to shoot pix today and camera battery was dead. Nickel plated ones the 1/100 have a jet back shiny tail with a new age chenille black and white body. The 1/80 oz are gold plated . A few strands of black flashabou buried in a pinch of translucent iceabou. With newage firetiger chenille being the body. Chenille on both is size 0.

Swap Sample

Both of these patterns are untested. However same color patterns on wet flies have muderlated them in the past.
-
I'm all finished, what do want me to do now?Post pics or what,or do you want to be surprised, lol, and you can post the pics when you get them all?Your the swapster, lol.
-
5 and 5 Right? Or did I miss something along the way?
-
Nope your right 5 and 5. Go ahead and post pix. I will take one big pic when I get them altogether. I 'm too anxious to see them.
I will PM instruction and mailing addy to you in a couple of days, Feb 28 2010 is actual deadline but if I get them all early will wrap up early. Only makes sense.
-
Very good, then.I've got to turn into a jig photographer right now, lol.Got to put on a new face.
-
Here's Mine
Ok,the little 1/64 oz. ball head with the size 8 sickle hook,lt. grey kip tail, with a black thread body. This is a catcher, caught almost every kind of fish with it.This was from my remark earlier about getting spooled, happened to me 1 1/2 times with this jig in the winter time,Probably a channel cat.
Next is an unproven yet 1/32 oz. minnow head with a size 6 sickle hook, powder painted chartruese, lime green kip tail, with a S. S. Fancy & Black size 2 chenille. And yes,as you all know half hitches,lol.3 of them to be exact. That's it for my very first jig swap in my whole life. And yes, that is an 81 mg. low dose aspirin in the middle,You started it Hays, lol. And yes,I have been pulling on that kip tail for 2 days now,not 1 hair came out. Thanks for all of your help guys.Could'nt do it without you all.
-
Look good to me AZ. I like both of them. Guy on another site gave me the dickens about size reference in my pix. Now everytime I usually put something in to let them know. Funny how things stick with you like that. That low dose aspirin does do the trick.
I think this little mini-swap going to be a real zinger.
-
Ok shipping info PM sent to all Tyers. If any more info is needed let me know. I do not think I left anyone out.
Most of the other info other than shipping addy was for new guys to swap. I fumbled the ball on the shad swap by not enclosing prepaid envelope. Attica fish covered for me.
-
great jigs az"i like the minner heads
it happens hays.FF did it for me too when i forgot"its all good buddy
-
Will put my jigs in mail after I get a few tied up for the swapmeister. Should have in mail by Monday or Tuesday.
-
Mine went in the mail this morning.
-
I bee keeping an eye out for them guys. Right now I am working on hackled jigs. Weather has got me in dumps. Wanted solid ice this year but that ain't working out or open water and that ain't working either. Tying jigs is keeping from dying from boredom.
-
mine are fin neato"...coming at ya's":)
-
Mine r on the way today Mr. Hays"see ya soon guy!:D
-
Put mine in the mail this morning! I too have been playing with hackle,
in particular palmering it on chenille jigs. Sure looks buggy!
-
Looks like I'll finally get to see how a feather jig is actually made.I can't wait to see them.
