Noticed while reading the BPS 2010 catalog that the Lowrance HDS units carry a 2 year warranty. I sure like the sounds of that. Wonder if HB is going to step up to the plate?

Reading some posts on Lowrance's warranty turn around, you may need 2 years.

Like they said on the board, you can find the same scenarios from HB. No company is perfect, but that second year of coverage should be worth something. I'm still undecided as to what to go with, might just buy a weight and use string.
Well, I've had warranty and non warranty dealings with Garmin, Humminbird and Lowrance. I can honestly tell you that Garmin and Humminbird solved any issues in a timely manner. An issue I had with a Lowrance LMF-200 multifunction gauge has never been settled.
The screen shots of the new Lowrance units look super. I wish I could convince myself to try one, but my experiences have taught me otherwise.
I had Lowrance replace a unit at no charge which was a couple of weeks or a month out of warranty. I paid $700 for the unit the year before and figured I was out of luck. The guy at Lowrance said the unit had an old serial number but if I could prove it was only 13 months old, he would replace it, and they did.
I turn 60 in 2 years, I'm going to buy myself a present of one of these units. I'll have to wait awhile before I decide which one.
Thats what I hate so much about Lowrance. They have the nicest product looks wise but the worst reliability and worst service.
10 years ago Lowrance was the very best in my opinion. They have fallen and Humminbird has been on the rise.
The two year warranty is nice, but your going to need it too.
I own three LOWRANCE units, and I am not worried one bit, if one or two or all three quit, they will fix them. no problem. every thing breaks and most can be fixed, no matter who makes them
Hell if it's that bad with lowrance just go buy a HB unit. Why keep on asking questions if keeps on being a bashing session.
I wasted $1000 on a lawrance, it was fully replaced 2x under warranty and had to have the transducers replaced 2x under warranty also, never again. One time it was working great and i tried to adjust sensativity and it died. I alway babied the unit and removed it from the boat to keep it out of the sun/heat. I was never happy with the service. After about 6-7 trips i would see the senssativity on the transducer drop way down. Big waste of money, i wont buy an expensive unit again.
Although these type threads tend to be more like a product bashing session, at least if folks are honest with their replies, it might help others avoid a bad experience.
I agree. However, I expect the unit to work as advertised and per written user manual. If it doesn't, they will hear from me and others. This is a good thing. The manufs depend on inputs mostly from suckbutt bass fishermen and we all know they are not the brightest candle on the cake.;)
I have no hangups about any manufacturer. I have no problems with repair. I have had all the units I own in for some type repair. I have enough "spares" that my life doesn't end when any one breaks.
