can anyone duplicate the Slab Daddy in the parrot green pattern? and what would be the cost?
There was a thread on the main board about Slab Daddys a few weeks ago and someone called them a cheap copy of Thumpit Jigs. I think the guy who makes Thumpit jigs posts on c.c, I have not used any of his jigs but if you hang around and read a lot of the forums you will see a lot of people thanking him for his jigs and recomending them to others.
That would be skiptomylu ....he can duplicate anything that you want. http://thumpitjigs.com/
Hey Joe,
If this is the color then yes check with Skip he should be able to make you some.

So you are asking person to copy a posted pattern from Slab Daddy? Asking someone to bootleg or scalp somebody else’s bread & butter isn’t right – even if their product quality is lacking.
Be more generic in your post like; “does anyone tie a green parrot pattern?”
The Slab Daddy bash is getting old….
Actually the Slab Daddy jigs that the OP was referring to are not jigs tied by fellow C.c member Slabdaddy. The jigs he was referring to are manufactured by Blakemore. The Blakemore SlabDaddy jigs are good jigs, but like a lot of other mass produced factory jigs , some folks say they just do not hold up as well as good hand tied jigs. I however have had good luck with them. The Thumpit jigs that Skip ties are very similar and will hold up good. Jigs by Shipahoy will hold up good also. There are a lot of good jig tiers on this board. Sizes and colors of jigs are duplicated everyday.
Skip will not duplicate the slab daddys. His jigs will hold up very well.
thanks for the replies and sorry if I stepped on any toes didn't mean to hurt any feelings.
Skippers" good ,Rob flatfish ,and jjj can pull it off too!You got some of the best here DaddyO"!"Cant" ain't" in their vocabularies:)
No worries JT
JJJ does some awesome stuff – flats – lots of talent – good luck……
Thanks guys and yes I can make most any color you want and they will last more than a few fish. Have had more than one customer tell me they had caught over 300 on one jig.
I usually can't catch that many on one before the wood fish gets them.
Sorry I had been out of town visiting my son for the week of Christmas and just getting going again after getting over the trip. Man I cam home and was so tired I couldn't hardly think, LOL!
If you have to have that pattern and you cant find someone to duplicate it, someone else had posted that a dab of fingernail polish or fly tying glue on the body close to the head takes care of the unraveling issue. I have not tried it but I have used the jigs and can attest to the fact that they do catch fish, but I had the same problem a lot of people have had with the Blakemore Slab Daddys, the body starts to unravel after about the 6th fish.
Have not tried them, but probably because I can tie anything they can and mine will hold up. Also don't know if they ever started curing their paint, but have used lots of their Roadrunner (before I started tying my oqn of them too) and the paint chips because it's not cured.
No one that buys a jig should have to put a drop of glue that the guy that tied it should have used.
Also the tying is pretty bad, but what do you expect of products from Hattie?
Skip
They sell these jigs around here for about $1.00 each and are not worth that much if they fall apart!
I agree with Skip you shouldnt have to do the finishing touch to a jig you purchase, Looked at some a Basspro and a few of them were comming apart in the package before they even got used, maybe they were a old batch and have improved since those were made.
thats what started me on tying my own I was tired of paying a buck for crap that falls apart right out of the package and I am not bashing blakemore or thier slab daddys cause i never used them.
