Good Snake!!!!!!
Where did they come from?
call the game wardens - the killings of those snakes were more than likely illegal (if they're Arkansas snakes)
frickin shame they're dead
Don't know where they came from I received the picture in an email but I don't think they are from Arkansas.
Holy cow...I would rather die in a tornado anyday, than run into a storm cellar with those bad boys:eek:
That's awesome! Very well could be Okie snakes. There are several rattlesnake festivals here, and yeah, rattlesnake is pretty good to eat
I motored over one last summer and it climbed up the outboard and nestled up under the cowling. I had to get my boat hook and push him over. No free rides... Fish or cut bait, but no free rides.
I thought I had posted some pictures of it, but I can't seem to find the post.
The Only Good Snake Is A Dead Snake!!!!!!!!!!!
That could be in Opp Alabanana, they have a rattle snake round up and fry there every year.
A snake is you best friend.. some folks are just too ignorant to realize it!
Try to guess how many rats and mice there'd be without snakes!
Uhh.......no.
Bit of an overstatement there. I don't care how many rats/mice they eat I'll never embrace them.
If I see them in the woods or on the water, I leave them alone. But if they show up around the house, they're getting their head chopped. I can put up mice traps and buy a cat if I have a rodent problem....I do NOT want snakes under my house.
If you don't mind breaking the law and killing snakes, then ya'll don't mind if I break the law and keep below the length limit crappie right?
The snake laws are there for a reason, if ya'll don't understand conservationism and how ecosystem's work at least understand that other people do and that's why its against the law to kill a snake unless its an immediate threat to you.
Statisitcs show you are far more likely to die from hitting a deer with your car, deer cause far more damage, DEER are to be feared far more than snakes ......... so should we kill every deer we see? "any dead deer is a good deer" right?
C'mon, I'm not a big snake lover but I understand why God put them here, and I'm not going to be one to follow wives tales and be scared when there is nothing to be scared of and I'm not going to kill something when there is really no reason too.
JMHO
You let the snakes play in your yard and I will let the deer play in mine.;)
thats the right place for them....i grew up in fla on 1,500 acres and the rattle snakes and cotton mouths were bad...i hate snakes but i have to say them right there would make some mighty fine boots...
Slealthycat,
I think all snakes are a immediate threat to me! That's the reason I make
good snakes out of them.
Stealthlycat, looks like you are going to have to make a citizens arrest.
Dang knowing a tornado coming those would make a fellers panties fall off fast and his eye balls run out on a stem.
I do not kill spiders or wasp around the house and will sometimes let a harmness snake alone but if its a rattlesnake, cotton mouth or copperhead around the house I'll kill it.
Out while fishing I let them alone....
If I found that pile of rattlesnakes around my house I could not sleep or work around it,house for sale.
I can't help myself...I have no regard for ethics or ecology whenever I see anything or anybody that makes me scream and crap my pants simultaneously.
I guess you would have to kill those to get em out of a shelter BUT to say any good snake is a dead snake is flat out STUPID
When I was a kid I lived in Texas and this was a common site at some of the rattlesnake round-ups....Yikes, I hate snakes too!
Anybody who says killing a snake is wrong has never been bit. If you think I want my kids or anyones elses kid or wife go through that you are crazy as hell.
i found 1 good use for diamondbacks and prairie rattllers!

Very fine rods for sure!!! Those are awesome. My little brother got bit on the ankle by a Copperhead when we were kids playing in the woods. He was eight years old and it was a very traumatic experience for him and the entire family. To this day, the only good snake is a dead one. Although I don't mess with snakes while fishing, we would no more consider allowing a snake around here than a rabid dog. If it has the potential to harm one of our kids it is a goner.
WOW really nice rods, so if we kill the snakes and send em to you do we get a discount? Beautiful...Rods
heck yeah. but make sure its skinned or my wife will skin you and i both! LOL
i actually had 2 copperheads in the freezer waiting to be skinned but packed in plastic bags and my wife was going through the freezer looking for a 5lb package of smoked sausage ( the sausage was about the same diameter as the snakes) but when she reached into the bag to pull the sausage out.....she got a big suprise! i heard a big scream, then heard her slip and fall on the kitchen floor. that took place right before she started yelling out choice words and telling me to get them dang snakes out of her freezer, LOL
So I guess if you kill every snake you see youll never be bitten? lol Statistics show most snake bites happen when harassing or trying to kill it.
Welcome to the board and very nice rods, venom
I would not get caught selling protected wildlife or parts in Arkansas . It could cost you your rights to hunt and fish here.
Violation Points
Those babies would look good on the grill. I used to go looking for them on the deer lease in South Texas. They would surely wind up on the grill if I found them trying to share my house with me, my wife and grandkids. That is out of bounds.

thanks for the compliments on the rods guys! the pics dont do the rods justice. those snake overlays have got very popular. probably 90% of the rod orders i get are requesting snake overlays. it turns a rod into artwork and a conversation piece on the boat ramp or while wading a river. also have been doing abalone ( pearl material fron inside a sea shell) overlays that look very cool.
yes in arkansas its illegal to kill any snake, venomous or nonvenonous unless it "pose's a reasonable threat or endangerment to persons." . a reasonable threat would be a snake in your yard but not a snake you see laying out on the side of the road. i have killed several copperheads here at my house because they get up on our porch and lay out and even had one come in the house one time when my son left the door open. we also had 2 snakes fall off from the top of the shop door when sliding it open. one of those times was a copperhead that fell across my wifes shoulder and didnt come off until she had ran close to 40 yards screaming and yelling and the very next day a chicken snake fell off of the door on me. we used to kill a lot of snakes in our barn but i got me a barn cat and it keeps the snakes ran off. we actually probably see more snakes at night in our driveway than we do anywhere else. with a 4 yr old boy , i am gonna kill any snake in my yard.
my rattlesnake skin that i use to overlay on rod blanks comes from out west from a comercial hyde dealer. even if i had rattlesnakes here at my house i would still buy them because i just dont want to handle them. i had 2 copperheads in the freezer that i killed on my front porch and it freaked me out skinning them. dead or alive, i am still scared of them, lol
Creekslick, I grew up in N.E. Louisiana, our backyard was the Bayou Bonne a dee. So dealin with snakes was a part of growin up. With that said, this video should sum it all up...
YouTube - draywanda's Channel Good snake..........
Let's see I have been called ignorant and STUPID(don't appreciate that) for saying a good snake is a dead snake. Well I will tell you this when I see a snake in my yard he will be a good snake because he will be a dead snake. I did not kill the snakes in the picture I got it in an email. I have never seen that many rattlesnakes in my life.
I agree with you creekslick, good snake = dead snake
Meeee Tooooo
