Coyote Tail
Any of you guys ever use coyote fur in your jigs?
I shot one the other day and I cut off his tail thinking I could use it for something. It has a nice texture and I think it might have action in between squirrel hair and deer hair in the water. It is more firm than squirrel, but thinner than deer.
Anyway, just wondering if any of you have tried it.

Post 'em up after you tie a few. Let's see what they'll look like.;):)

Have some (not tail) and keep thinking I will tie some to try as I do like the way it looks. Got a friend that is going to shoot me one and fix the hide for me to keep. You can buy the tails for about $5 or a little more.

Coyote
I recently tied about six with coyote hair. Haven't had a chance to get em wet yet, but they sure look good. It's almost like a vareigated hair from gray to white to black.

feathercraft sells them, and they say lefty kreh ties flies for carp with them.

See mikeb,Coyote and lime Kool-Aid,lol.

Alright good. Sounds like it will be worth while to try it out.
Lemme ask yall this now, I got that thing out of the bag last night and I cannot find words to adequately describe the smell of it. It is about how I would imagine Hell smells like. I have cut off plenty of squirrel tails and they never stink like this. How should I go about cleaning this thing? Borax? I'm gonna need something stronger than regular dish soap or common household soaps.

Dead things stink, especially if put in a bag.Put the borax on the open skin and let it cure and hang it outside. Then when it is cured you can wash it with soap and water.Put some jig scent on it,lol.Slab's got some.

You have a package on the way and a jig with coyote is in the mix.
